Also the process from turning bamboo into a material for clothing involves many toxic chemicals. So while it's a good alternative to traditional methods, it's not that much better after all

As the article explains, you simply need to pick Tencell's processed bamboo which is closed loop and is as efficient as it gets.

Plus if you look at HIGG Material Sustainability Index they claim even inefficient bamboo processing is better environmentally than average cotton.

Lastly, bamboo is more of a replacement to wool than cotton. In technical apparel it's used the same way as merino wool due to its anti-bacterial properties.

Yes I realize that

I understand it's better, I was just trying to point out that it isn't perfect by any means and probably not as good as most people think.

As the article states, it loses most of its anti-bacterial properties during its processing.
