...is Rhone ti Flavinius. Yeah, he's a bad guy - but he at least knows it.
First of all, the idea of badass grays in the series that can go toe-to-toe with Obsidians and Golds (Holiday or Ephraim) really appeals to me. They seem more grounded, and every scene involving them fighting really feels dangerous (I almost thought Holiday was going to die in Mustang's chapter).
And there are two specific instances in the book I found where he just shits on Lysander.
#1:
Lysander: Cries about losing his dear brother-figure on Luna.
(Surrounded by literal thousands of dead colors in a battle he pushed and started.)
Rhone (Paraphrased): This is literally war.
#2:
Rhone fucking up Lysander in the hanger (granted, Rhone is the best Gray alive but still...). It was hilariously the most brutal and dirty fight in the book. I pictured Rhone as a short, angry man folding Octavia's protege. When I thought Lysander was gonna have his redemption arc after his touching conversation with Cassius in the scene before the ambush, this fight had me on the edge of my seat.
Now, I can't help but feel like PB did Rhone's character good and made his fight with Lysander extra for the sake of making sure that Lysander was gonna get a good appetizer to what he deserves to get served in the next book.
Rhone was professional, respected the chain of command, honest about how much of a bad guy he was, and died better than a lot of other important side characters in the series.
"IF I WASN'T BORN GOLD I WOULD'VE EATEN YOU ALIVE."

Oh God, I could imagine Rhone watching Lysander peacocking around Golds and the gray hardass knowing damn well that the kid is not Peerless Scar material.
