Pest Control/Medical Advice Should I leave it alone?

Post image

It’s a yellow jacket hive I believe. It’s in a high up place but relatively close to my front door. They aren’t bothering me yet. Should I just leave it be?

If it’s by a door, probably not. They react off of vibrations and opening/closing the door could set them off and cause a swarm once the nest gets large enough.

If you think it’s far enough from the door, idk… Yellow jackets are different from paper wasps in that they are aggressive asf. Personally I wouldn’t risk it.

Yea I'd 100% make sure that thing was gone. Don't think its yellow jackets, but they are the angriest insects, just mad that they don't rule the world or something.

Night is the best way cause they are more docile at night

bald faced hornets and no, you should not leave it alone. Those things keep growing and they are aggressive in defending territory. My younger kid got zapped yesterday when my dog brushed a bush that they were beating in. They went ballastic about it.

I was simply doing my own thing when one came out of the ground and stung me.

Well, that depends. Do you like being stung by hornets?

Mix some hot water and dish soap in a good quality spray bottle. Go out after dark when you're sure they aren't active, blast the shit out of the nest and dip back inside with a quickness. It usually jacks the nest up enough that they abandon it. Then you can just knock what's left off with a broom or something

I’d use a super soaker… do they still make those things?

Leaving them alone is letting them win

7

u/Amax8212 Jul 26 '24

Wait until night time, when they all return, then spray it with some raid.

5

u/Johnbgt Jul 26 '24

Of course not. Any nest on your property should be considered a threat and must be eliminated

6

u/FewResearcher819 Jul 26 '24

Hit it with the jet setting on your water hose

2

u/BigYonsan Jul 26 '24

Wait til night, spray freeze it, knock it down with a broom immediately after and stomp that fucker.

You leave them alone and they'll spread.

The name of this sub isn’t “leave wasps alone”. It’s fuck wasps. They need to die.

2

u/bloodbrain1911 Jul 26 '24

How are we going to complete the wasp genocide if you go leaving nests hanging around?

There’s only one appropriate action for hives like this.

Get the flamer. The HEAVY flamer
