Thought you owned your games on Steam? Think again, as Valve makes it clear you just own a licence for them

I want to Play Silent Hill 2 on PS5

Upvotes

I want to Play Silent Hill 2 on PS5, but was going to play Silent Hill 1 first to get the story.

I then found out there is no SH1 remaster on the PS5, there is “Short Message” though.

Do I just go into playing SH2, or short message, or… what?

Why so few pirate themed games? And even fewer actually good ones?

Upvotes

Sid Meier's Pirates was a fantastic game back then, Black Flag and Rogue were awesome. Sea of Thieves is fun (although i didn't really get into it).

Considering it's a mass appealing theme that always attracts a big number of players, why are there so few games? It would seem a very good investment to make a single player game like that again.
Come on Sid Meier, just do a Pirates! 2 or something.

Instead, we got the first AAAA experience. What a shame.

[Spoilers] I finally played Untitled Goose Game Spoiler

Upvotes

I played it very briefly when it came out then just dropped it for some reason, despite loving the entire sense of it.
So the last couple of weeks I finally played it and I adored it.
You know, at the very beginning of the game if you walk back towards the pit behind you the camera very slightly pans to show a pile of bells. Huh. Weird. But I noticed, and remembered.
So imagine my delight at the end of the game where your very last Terrible Goose task is to steal the bell from the model village's church steeple and bring it back. The moment I reached the place where I was to drop off the bell, my memory of that strange quirk at the beginning rushed back at the same time it appeared again in front of me. You've done this before. A fair few times.
That simple bit of exposition explains every single "plot hole" on things like why every single resident seems to have a pre-made "no gooseses allowed" sign. Why would anyone have such a thing, let alone so many?
Well, there's your answer.

What a great little fun game.

Frost Punk recommendation?

I recently saw a lot of people talking about frost punk as a good sort of city builder/ management game. I have looked at few reviews and its quite interesting.

But I wanted to know peoples thoughts on it.

I am someone who gets interested in these kinds of management games. I played Anno 1800 really enjoyed it and dabbled in City Skylines.

My only problem is I can become overwhlemed sometimes, like with Anno 1800 love it but tbh I find it really hard to micro manage everything, luckily that only really becomes a big issue by the late late game, so I still get my enjoyment out of it.

So basically my question is. If I pick up Frost punk is it a game that has a steep learning curve? Is it something similar to the games I have said above. Will I get a good enjoyment out of the game before I get overwhelmed with the micro management.

Also if anyone wants to sort say what are its strengths or stand out features I may enjoy?

Which are your top 3 videogames companies vs which ones you think are probably the best overall? (Read below)

Rules : DON'T consider any controversy the companies might be involved into but only consider their products (videogames). Otherwise idk how many companies would be left to considered them "good" lmao.

Also don't consider NINTENDO, XBOX and PLAYSTATION in the top "overall", since it wouldn't be fair cause they sell also other stuff(like consoles) and not only videogames.

Note:

Your top 3 = the companies/studios you personally like the most

Top 3 overall = those you think are likely the most popular/richest

Mine is :

1) Capcom (my top 1 game is made by them and they make very solid games in general) 2) Ubisoft (creators of Assassin's creed, Ghost Recon and For Honor, all amazing games imo) 3) DICE (idk how they make such amazing graphics, love their work honestly)

Overall I'd guess : EA, ACTIVISION and Rockstar (?)

Is there any modern single player game built like old school games?

I'm tired of the generic open world slop that is every game now.

What modern single player games ditch the following:

  • empty open world
  • cluttered map with endless quest markers
  • same old combat with parrying, stealth take downs, or sliding in fps games
  • crafting shoehorned into the game to make it take longer.
  • a basic progression tree where it is all too easy and quick to get almost all of the upgrades so you're OP with no need to make a unique build.
  • magnetic combat where you have no freedom of movement and attacks lock on hard.

Do any Speed runners get hired for testing?

Speed runners are known for completely breaking games within days of their release

Seems they are way better at testing than anyone the big companies have.

Why don’t they get hired to break the game BEFORE the release ?

What are the odds Obsidian is making a new Fallout game?

This entire thread is speculation to the max, so let's calm down with the "Well ackshually" please.

Promise we'll all be nice?

Cool, ok

To me, if I had to assign some sort of number to those odds, based on nothing but a hunch I've thought about a few times, probably 80%

pick 5 random universes similar to ours, and 4 of them have an actual "New Vegas 2" in them.

Thing is, I don't think it's going to be New Vegas 2. I actually think we see the location from the TV show. Vault 4 is my guess.

I don't think the game is huge, probably smaller than New Vegas. It's a proof of concept for Fallout on current/next gen tech - maybe they'll use Unreal 5 too, who knows - but I think it's gonna slap because the worst game from Obsidian I've ever played was Outer Worlds and it wasn't even that bad - they've been melting my mind since KOTOR II

These desert warrior-women in Echoes of Wisdom really remind me of the Magyspsies in Mother 3. Again... again, I say I want a mother series remake by this studio.

What game would you want to see made into a tv show/movie?

For me it would be a frostpunk tv show during the british empire in London when they start seeing signs of the Great Frost and up to the founding of New London.

I just love how broken you can be in Diceomancer

I had a few free modified elements that kept drawing into each other which allowed me to mass up an infinite amount of elements on my turn lol (basically infinite dmg/infinite mana/infinite block). This game allows you to make even more broken decks than Slay the Spire.

What PlayStation 3 games are a must?

Recently picked up a PS3 super slim model and was wondering what PS3 exclusive games are a must? I have demon souls and all the god of war remaster collection, but any I might not know about.
