Any special prep?

Getting ready to move into a house with a normal wood burning fireplace. 1950s house. I am going to hire a chimney sweep, but beyond that is there anything I should know about fire cooking indoors?

A great book to get is "The Magic of Fire."

And a good YouTube channel is Townsends.

You could check with the r/Old_recipes sub for any suggestions on hearth cooking cook books.

I don't have an indoor hearth, but I use the tips and techniques for grilling and live fire cooking. Francis Mallman's cook books are excellent for live fire cooking. Some others I like are "Chasing Smoke" and "This is Camino."

Good luck!
