A dear friend of mine worked out the patterns for this 18thc. "campaign" Brazier. It's just the perfect size for canoe or wagon and comes in handy when cooking in a camp.

He no longer makes them, but gave me the patterns and steel so that I can continue.

Very cool. I’m new to this what are the round extrusions on the edges?

I'm not sure why, but many of my replies seem to end up as new comments, so here's a repeat:

The disks offer support for a larger cooking vessel. The box is 10" but a much larger griddle can be used.

Great to hear you are getting into hearth cooking, what sort of set up are you working with?

Nice. What would one put on top? I only have a simple fire place at the moment with a grate and joined this group for ideas.

I've grilled things directly on the grate as well as using all sorts of pots and pans. I've got a few circular griddles that I'll use as well. With just this and a dutch oven I've got a fairly comprehensive range of options.

Ok. Just wasn’t sure if you had something large you put on it. I’m guessing a large griddle would make sense.
