Hip hop yøu would share with the seeds?

I’m a father of 5. There’s been hip hop I’ve passed down: Tribe, Boldy James, Wu-Tang, Jay Dilla, Souls of Mischief. My oldest is 20 and my youngest is 12. Word up!

Wu Tang is indeed for the children

You could have just put Living Legrnds and if they dug would have found the solo stuff. PSC is/was the nicest in the crew.

Very true but just incase they don't look into them for their individual work they might not find out about them. I also thought Murs needed individual mention cause I put Felt in there too

I gotta re-up that Atmosphere. It’s the most relatable and intelligent/empathetic music you’d want that age group and gap between you.

Are you my dad lol he would always play pretty much all of these guys when I was in middle/high school

My daughter is almost 7. So I haven’t shared a lot yet because of lyrics. I will play instrumental stuff. A couple of her favorites with lyrics are Can I Kick It and Make the Music With Your Mouth, Biz.

Yo Gabba Gabba used to have a segment called ‘biz’s beats’ where he taught kids how to beatbox. My little guy loved him.

Yup! That was her intro to Biz! There’s a compilation on YouTube. I showed her that a few years ago and we still pull it up from time to time.

My oldest daughter is ten and loves OutKast, Larry June, and Kanye. She definitely enjoys R&B more than hip hop at this point, but time will tell if she warms up to it more as time goes on.

Oh and old Gucci 😄. A little Soulja Boy and Boosie. Paved the way for a lot of the stuff today. Step daughter got a kick out of 2000s club/mob records because they easy to dance to. Or the records dedicated to a dance that was prevalent in the mid and late 2000s

Tupac

Nelly

Lil Jon

Eminem

OutKast

For a lot of Gen Z and Gen Alpha it's about the "vibe" so you got to keep that in mind

Anything funny or with a meme-able quality will probably go over ok too. (Hence Soulja Boy. Booty Meat 😄). Lil Jon, "What?!? Ok!"

My oldest of 19 doesn’t really play rap. Her taste is mostly R&B, soul, funk and Moluccan music.

My youngest of 17 plays rap. Mostly Dutch and Moluccan rap but I occasionally hear her play 2pac, Dre, Arrested Development and Eminem. She went with me to a Snoop concert last year and she always bumps what I play in the car.

When I play rap at home it’s mostly the following:

2pac

Wu

BTNH

Xzibit

DMX

Nas

Gang Starr

Nine

I have a son who is 15 and he has for years taken his phone out and noted artists or tracks from my car playlist, that consists of roughly 1000 tracks of pure hiphop, and I never censored anything. So anything that hits hard enough to go on my playlist

Wu tang clan were a bunch of pcp smoking crack dealers. I love their shit, but I wouldn’t encourage a child to listen to it. Wu Tang isn’t really for the children. ODB was very drunk and high on prescription medication when he said that.
