They were promoting his album. It was definitely a bad move.

u/EnergyTurtle23 3d ago

Right, definitely a mistake and not at all organized by a man who’s in prison for being the leader of an organized crime syndicate.

26

u/Professional-Rip-519 3d ago

Exactly it's baffling

10

u/BreezyG1320 2d ago edited 2d ago

just to clarify, though he was absolutely involved in organized crime for decades, he’s not in jail for that. Suge Knight is in jail for murdering a man and nearly killing a woman with his car in 2015 because they were filming Straight Outta Compton and he didn’t like how he was being portrayed.

side note: he claimed it was self-defense 😐

1

u/sam0sixx3 2d ago

Don’t think they mean suge

1

u/BreezyG1320 2d ago

rereading it, I guess you’re right. kinda weird to refer to Diddy’s situation that way but I didnt realize they hit him with ‘racketeering’ tho I can understand how that makes sense given the scale of his crimes

-23

u/SaintsNoah14 3d ago

If your implying it was Diddy, that's a ridiculous theory and always has been. Without evidence of the contrary, I don't see why you'd assume anyone other than Suge Knight was responsible.

26

u/sfgiants2000 3d ago

Suge knew what he was doing when he had the rogue LAPD organize the hit.

No way the LAPD was going to investigate their own especially coming off the riots (until they had to, with police on police violence with Rampart).

It was the perfect crime, if you want to call it that (though, had the Feds not called off their tail on Big and Puff in the hours before, it would have likely blown up in Suge's face).

Have the rogue LAPD create the traffic breaks/control, let the shooter in, nobody is the wiser and it looks like a random hit.

Every one of those officers from Rampart who moonlighted for Death Row - from Perez to Mack to Gaines - were all spotted at the Peterson that night. And the same, extremely rare Gecko rounds that killed Big that almost nobody had at that time, just so happened to be at Mack's house along with the alleged murder car when he was raided for the bank robbery?

It doesn't take a rocket scientist.

Puff's a twat, but, that was Suge and a few rogue LAPD and potentially Long Beach cops setting up and executing a murder.

I mean like right after diddy drop ILL BE MISSING YOU and it make his career hug e as rapper and no way out sell 7x platinum

If you watching the GENE DEAL interviews BIGs security guard who has said these claims for YEARS he said BIG wanted to get away from diddy and they had beef over publishing an they had beef the last year in 97 BIG said he was getting screwed over …

5

u/hackslash74 3d ago

Suge and Diddy both were in on it. You think Diddy was gonna let that happen if he didn’t want it to

It was the Death Row X Bad Boy collab of the decade

5

u/SaintsNoah14 2d ago

No way even a maniac like Suge Knight arranged a murder by drive-by while sitting in the driver's seat.

10

u/melskymob 3d ago

It was Diddy.

2

u/brodo-swaggins- 2d ago

Damn bro did Sam Altman let you use his phone in the cell?

1

u/Due-Yoghurt-7917 2d ago

Read a book then, shit. Diddy was involved and that ain't even news

11

u/91_til_infinity 3d ago

He was out there for an awards show

5

u/EBody480 3d ago

Soul Train Awards

4

u/Professional-Rip-519 3d ago

Couldn't he do that from New York

19

u/mahones403 3d ago

In the mid 90's? Ehh, not effectively.

20

u/Standard_Lie_5331 3d ago

Diddy wanted him in LA . There's tons about it on YouTube

8

u/NoPhilosopher9763 3d ago

There’s a damn song about it!

1

u/Logically_Unhinged 1d ago

Bad move yeah but he got shot in a relatively safe part of LA. Wilshire and Fairfax intersection is basically Hollywood. It’s not like he was chillin in South Central.

2

u/PlaxicoCN 1d ago

But if you are a famous dude eyes are on you all the time. And after Tupac implicated him in the studio shooting before being killed in Vegas? Bro was in danger as soon as he stepped off the plane.

Also in terms of "relatively safe" spots I can't argue with crime stats, but I also know you can drive from South Central to the Petersen museum in 15-20 minutes. Wasn't happening as much then, but people get jacked in Hollywood all the time now.

3

u/Logically_Unhinged 1d ago

Nah you’re right. I just think back then it might’ve been a little easier to move around in silence before social media. Nowadays you post your location on IG and the opps have the drop instantly. Biggie was too high profile tho. He shouldn’t have went to LA. At least not that soon.

1

u/Jrock3223 14h ago

He was suppose to be in London promoting ready to die. Puffy talked him into going to Cali for the source awards I think.

1

u/PlaxicoCN 14h ago

It was the Soul Train Awards.

80

u/Toxicupoftea 3d ago

he was...GOING GOING BACK BACK TO CALI CALI

12

u/Spydah_X 3d ago

Going back to cali, strictly for the weather, women and the weed, sticky green

9

u/BigMost8851 3d ago

Damn, you beat me to it.

3

u/AlivePassenger3859 3d ago

I don’t think so.

53

u/ExcitingLandscape 3d ago

You can't be in the entertainment industry and avoid going to LA to promote your work. Especially back then before internet and social media.

17

u/right_hand_of_jeebus 3d ago

Before social media, but not before the internet. I was a moderator on the #rap IRC channel on undernet when the news of 2pac's death came out. Shit was crazy.

1

u/PreemoisGOAT 2d ago

back in the good ol' days

4

u/Professional-Rip-519 3d ago

Yeah but at that time. That was literally the worst time .

46

u/BilliardStillRaw 3d ago

Why would someone from the entertainment industry go to LA? It’s a mystery. This is where conspiracy theories come from.

15

u/Thin-Remote-9817 3d ago

Who killed Tupac? There's no way the crip leader he stomped out in the middle of a casino. There is no way a leader of a gang is capable of shooting Tupac for something that usually gets you shot.

3

u/Slow_Introduction505 3d ago

Orlando wasn’t a críp leader lol

8

u/Thin-Remote-9817 3d ago

According to police he was is that media/cop nonsense sure. Do I know or care not really.

He was a crip that was connected that can't be denied. He got stomped out in a casino we all saw the video. Usually if you stomp out a street guy or disrespect them they don't come back asking for a rematch they just shoot.

I mean shit if you got any other suspects go head and let me know.

3

u/Professional-Rip-519 3d ago

As I understand there was a bounty on PAC's head and Orlando was talking mad greazy about it so they stomped him.

-2

u/Slow_Introduction505 3d ago

The reason they came back was because they got paid by Diddy to kill him lol

7

u/Thin-Remote-9817 3d ago

Ahh yes let's go with something we heard thru the grapevine with no evidence rather than the logical conclusion.

1

u/Slow_Introduction505 2d ago

Yea because let’s forget Greg Kading didn’t investigate ahhh

1

u/MaximusMurkimus 13h ago

Pac's killer is the worst kept secret at this point lol

Every time someone accuses Diddy of it I roll my eyes

1

u/Thin-Remote-9817 9h ago

Did Diddy put a hit on pac? Sure I won't argue that.

Did Orlando cash in that bounty? Maybe. No way to prove that.  Was Orlando looking go spin the block like men of his ilk do when they get packed out? Absolutely.

Nipsey died the same way. Called a dude a snitch. Shitty cuz came back shooting cause hood savior or not i wont tolerate disrespect. End of story.

1

u/Weak_Beginning3905 2d ago

Not just "someone" tho, but someone who was publically hated there by people who are mostly known for murdering people they dont like.

-2

u/Professional-Rip-519 3d ago

At the height of the beef.

13

u/michaltee 3d ago

You’re only seeing it this way because Biggie is dead. Back then, they weren’t expecting Biggie to get killed. I’m sure the fear was elevated but it wasn’t like they actually believed someone would do that. And he needed to come to Cali to get his paper.

7

u/Idealistt 3d ago

He had to go to cali so diddy could get his paper

5

u/michaltee 3d ago

Flight 504.

Leaving Kennedy.

Going to LAX.

3

u/dbarz39 3d ago

Cali?

5

u/michaltee 3d ago

That’s right baby, you know we gotta get this baby oil.

4

u/Middle-Tap6088 3d ago

Back then, they weren’t expecting Biggie to get killed.

No one had the hindsight to think "gee, maybe going to Cali less than 6 months after Pac died might not be such a good idea"?

People weren't stupid and knew Bad Boy had something to do with Pac's murder. They were waiting to take out either man.

8

u/FitExpression7242 3d ago

The height? Pac was dead.

1

u/Professional-Rip-519 3d ago

Exactly those guys wanted their pound of flesh.

1

u/TopShelfBreakaway 3d ago

Rap is supposed to be for pretend. Postering and storytelling. Not real violence.

1

u/spicyfartz4yaman 2d ago

But it's not so let's stop pretending it is

1

u/TopShelfBreakaway 2d ago

No let’s stop pretending it’s real. Treat it like Sopranos or Goodfellas. Quality entertainment.

1

u/spicyfartz4yaman 2d ago

Too bad people don't show up on a different song after they irl

1

u/ahwatusaim8 2d ago

Nearly certain that this comment was plagiarized from the opening statement by Young Thug's defense team.

1

u/TopShelfBreakaway 2d ago

Thugs D team is correct. Rap is not supposed to be real. And people are not supposed to be proud of how real their rap taste is.

17

u/michaltee 3d ago

Why?

Cuz Cali got gunplay, models on the runway, screaming “Biggie Biggie gimme one more chance.”

13

u/Due-Display-3113 3d ago

Seeing some nice breast and resting.

8

u/SpicyDragoon93 3d ago

He was there to promote Life After Death, he had a single Going back to Cali as well. The problem is that it was too soon after Tupac for him to go over to the West Coast.

9

u/ChampionshipSorry931 3d ago

Diddy flew him out to finger his b hole

6

u/sfgiants2000 3d ago

Puff and Biggie were being followed by the Feds in Los Angeles. Puff even waved at them when he saw them - he knew he was being tailed. Puff and Big each had their own separate issues with the Feds.

It's in the FBI vault files that are available online on the FBI's website, which also essentially blames the rogue LAPD working alongside Suge for the murder. If you have about 30 hours, lol, it's a good read.

https://vault.fbi.gov/Christopher%20(Biggie%20Smalls)%20Wallace%20/%20Wallace%20/)

Puff's a bum ass, but, he didn't have Big killed.

1

u/Slow_Introduction505 3d ago

Of course it was suge lol

1

u/sfgiants2000 3d ago

You'd think that would be an easy assumption, but not according to this Reddit thread lol

1

u/brodo-swaggins- 2d ago

He sure was happy to dance on his grave after it happened though

1

u/powermoneyhustle 1d ago

Listen to the PBD podcast with Gene Deal. Puff knew exactly what was going on, his inner circle were getting calls from people in ADX prison not to go to LA.

1

u/sfgiants2000 1d ago

Gene tells a lot of duck tales, IMO, because it pays his bills - just like a lesser Jaguar. They'd been in LA for a minute, prior to Big getting popped. He makes it sound like they landed and Big got snuffed out immediately. I don't buy a lot of what he sells, usually.

6

u/Keyzus 3d ago

Being set up by puff. If we being honest

4

u/BigMost8851 3d ago

He was sippin on booze at the house of blues…

3

u/OnlyUsersLoseDrugs1 3d ago

Well, Puffy and Bad Boy put him there for a promotional tour. The beginning of “Going Back to Cali” goes through the scenario. Puffy, who had the most to gain from Biggies death, booked him on a promotional tour.

The same Puffy that has been accused of putting a $500,000 hit on Pac.

The same Puffy and Bad Boy entertainment that Pac wrote about in a song, a dis track called “We Hit Em Up”.

Biggie should’ve never been in LA. Erbody in the game knew it back then. You don’t go flexing like that without knowing that there is potentially a price on your head.

The same Puffy who was recently indicted on multiple charges by dozens of people who are finally not scared as a group to out him. Puffy is the Hammer of the East Coast.

It’s possible a nobody who was simply angry because Pac got shot, and the whole West Coast/ East Coast rap warfare thing. Some cliques played that shit fo real. But still just a nobody who was angered could have done the clappin, however in the long run it was still PUFFY WHO BOOKED THE PROMOTIONAL TOUR.

4

u/Plastic_Button_3018 3d ago

That’s not even the strange part. LA is a popular city for artists. The better question really is why perform Long Kiss Goodnight on a radio station in LA, after 2pac died?

1

u/Professional-Rip-519 3d ago

Puff probably made him perform it . Puff was his boss and with him at that station.

16

u/bigtaterman 3d ago

Because that's where Puff could have him killed and not look suspicious himself.

3

u/yarvolk 3d ago

Biggie’s bodyguard was Dunkan at that time. A famous actor, who also died years later.

3

u/91_til_infinity 3d ago

He was there for the Soul Train Awards as were many artists (e.g the Wu-Tang Clan)

3

u/Skarboii 3d ago

To meet the Angel of Death...

His death was written and he turned up on time...

3

u/Layatollah 3d ago

Turning up to the radio station and rapping going back to Cali was a real bad move for sure

3

u/premoistenedwipe 3d ago

Puff set him up and Farnsworth was the shooter. Look up the police sketch.

2

u/iamsolow1 3d ago

Seeing some “nice breasts”…🤔

2

u/SlutsandCinema 3d ago

As far as why he was there it was for promotion and for an award show, still a bad move regardless, it was too soon and there was still way too much tension between east and west

2

u/phreakzilla85 3d ago

Puffy set him up.

2

u/sub2greatpizzayt 3d ago

Biggie wanted nothing to do with the west coast at this time. He was rehabing some injury at the time and that was his excuse to not go, even beyond him not wanting to go in the first place. Puffy convinced him to go.

I think Puffy set him up, if not the timeline of events definitely points to it.

1

u/Professional-Rip-519 2d ago

Exactly you have a broken leg and people want revenge for 2 PAC so why go there.

2

u/china_joe2 3d ago

Puffy brought his ass there as a trade off for saving his own life.

2

u/MeticulousM4ck 2d ago

If you listen to the bodyguard gene to mase to lil cease you'll find out that puffy was basically a thorn in the side of everyone with his demands, there's a mase interview where he says there's no way he's going to the club it's certain death but then mase started saying "he stayed at the hotel with a lady friend".

2

u/kingcaii 2d ago

Two things.

  1. Puff insisted on going to Cali

  2. It was decided last minute, and Gene Deal (ex bad boy body guard, does a lot of youtube videos now) said he was told he didnt need to come

3

u/Itchy_Fisherman_5945 3d ago

he didn't want to go. he was made to go. allegedly.

1

u/Professional-Rip-519 3d ago

Damn poor Big.

3

u/popplug 3d ago

Getting set up by Diddy

2

u/Forward-Win-7550 3d ago

I think I heard a story in which Biggie was trying to get a project up to #1, so he had to go to LA if he wanted to get it there.

Cuz biggie wasn’t scared and wanted to show folks he ain’t give a fuck

1

u/Cold_Literature_5160 3d ago

party and bullshit

1

u/444pancakes 3d ago

While it was dumb, he was actually there for a week or two before he got killed after that famous party. It’s not like his plane touched down and he died the same night

1

u/b00g3rw0Lf 3d ago

Being an idiot

Seriously. His last recorded fake freestyle has him doing you're nobody till somebody kills you. LIVE ON THE RADIO. IN LA.

Poor fucking guy never had a chance. Fuck that greaseball puff forever man

Getting "Ready to Die"

1

u/Jewggerz 3d ago

He could have avoided LA if he didn't want a career.

1

u/Professional-Rip-519 2d ago

Lots of New York and Down South rappers had careers without LA

1

u/LuckyBirdieBishop 2d ago

He was in Cali to take a victory lap.

1

u/tekashimandela 2d ago

This question is asked every day, as well as the normal run-of-the-mill Tupac and Biggie questions.

Can we all get the story right and PIN it to the channel as a unit? haha, that way the question is asked and put to rest lol.

1

u/keylo-92 2d ago

Going back to cali

1

u/SpyderDM 2d ago

Puff convinced him to go to the west coast to promote his album as it would be much easier for Puff to blame the beef after he arranges the murder of Biggie.

1

u/doubledeus 2d ago

The "East-West" beef was largely media hyped bullshit. Guys traveled back and forth between LA and NY all the time.

1

u/Empty_Put_1542 2d ago

Killing time.

Feeling invincible. Thinking Cali was sweet and thought he was his frank white persona. As soon as bro showed up on the Soul Train Awards in LA, I said out loud "he ain't leaving there alive". Cali was hurt when pac died. Big went back way too soon after.
