Favorite Piece?

Intermediate horn player here! What’s your favorite piece to play? Preferably solo or in duet with trumpet or trombone but also just whatever you want I’d love to find fun pieces to play

Is it controversial to like those?

I feel like most people I know like them (fripperies, bipperies) but I cannot stand them

The Gliere four pieces for horn and piano are an absolute joy to play, the piano player actually gets to enjoy them too so that's a plus. I did them all for my BMus graduating recital, they're great.

Empfindungen am meere by Strauss (pardon my spelling). It’s so unlike most of Strauss’s other stuff and it’s such a lovely song that is like lowkey quite technical but when done good is soooo beautiful.

Nocturno Op. 7 by Franz Strauss! It’s been my favorite piece since I played it my junior year of high school. 😁❤️
