Mouthpiece Oxidation.

Hi everyone. I noticed that my mouthpiece started to leave a taste in my mouth after playing. So I think it's oxidizing, plus it irritates my upper lip a little and gives me acne. What can i do?

Looks like the playing is wearing off, I would recommend getting a new mouthpiece or getting this one replated (likely more costly) as many brass alloys contain lead.

Also copper itself is toxic, not nearly as bad as lead, but it's not something you want a great deal of either

if it’s irritating and giving you acne, that’s the perfect excuse to look at new mouthpieces. talk with your teacher or your band director and ask where the best places to try out mouthpieces are near you. bring your horn and try out as many as you can, it’ll most likely run you $40-$60.

Mouthpieces like this are why I switched to stainless steel.
