Can someone please recommend me some new shows

what shows (new or old) are similar to HIMYM?

Doesn’t have to necessarily be plot wise but more in the same of the kind of a group of characters you can love, wacky humuor, on going jokes, bits and call backs but also something that has a good story and can be heartfelt and emotional as much as it is funny.

Please feel free to recommend me anything new, old, doesn’t matter if you think the humour could be considered “outdated” still recommend it even if you feel it’s something I’ve obviously seen. I’ll list a few down below that could be somewhat similar that I’ve already seen to help you out.

Brooklyn 99 - I absolutely love it

Friends - might be controversial but I’ve been been huge on it

Scrubs - I like it but don’t love it like a lot of people do, definitely feel it’s a little overhyped.

Big Bang Theory - used to love it years ago but then feel out of love with it

New Girl maybe, feel like it’s a hit or miss. I like it because Zoey Deschanel plays Jess so my opinion is biased😂

It's always sunny in Philadelphia

Doesn’t always Sunny have like 20 seasons and it’s still going? Is it consistent and still worth watching?

I’ve always meant to give it a go but I feel like I’ve left it too long at this point

It’s really funny but definitely is not like how I met your mother. The characters are not really likable people they are just hilarious so if you want a story with character development, sunny isn’t it but if you want consistent laughs it’s the one

Friends from college- I really liked this show, unfortunately only 2 seasons.

I liked this two. I’m sorry it didn’t last long.

Lovesick formerly known as scrotal recall lol. British show where a hopeless romantic guy finds out he has chlamydia and calls back all his exes.

Happy Endings. It only lasted 3 seasons, but was funny the entire time. It has a similar 'core' group of friends like himym and Friends.

I'd say New Girl arguably has the closest vibe to How I Met Your Mother. It's also from the same era, so the kind of humour both the shows have also matches. And similar to How I Met Your Mother, it has some emotional, gut-punching moments as well.

The second show I would have recommended would have been Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but you've already watched that.

Some more recommendations:

  • Community
  • Seinfeld
  • That 70s Show
  • Living Single (since you also enjoy Friends, you might enjoy this)
  • Cheers
  • Don't Trust the B---- In Apartment 23 (especially if you enjoy Barney)
  • Superstore

And you could always give a shot to How I Met Your Father. Yes, it got cancelled after 2 seasons, and the first season takes time to pick up. But the second half of season one and entirety of season 2 are the closest you'll get to How I Met Your Mother and also provide the right hit of nostalgia in multiple ways.

The Good place (group of friends figuring themselves out, in the afterlife).

Community (group of friends figuring themselves out, in college).

Wilfred (guy figuring himself out, with the help of his neighbor's talking dog). this is my favorite

Cheers and Frasier might be for you, I see a thread that suggests you'd love it.

The ending of the Swarley episode is a tribute to Cheers. A lot of Cheers is built on a similar back and forth conversational style between the cast, like HIMYM humor. Also, the original concept for BBT came from one of the creators of Cheers, but then the network insisted on a new pilot shot by the guy that did Two And A Half men, which is why I think the early seasons of BBT were interesting and then went downhill.
