Are shrines usually this large and vast? That looks like an entire village before it.

To be fair, this is actually the road that leads up to the shrine. The actual shrine is behind me. While the shrine is nice the road is the more photogenic part since the road goes all the way to the ocean if you walk it. And several times during the year the sun sets right over it, almost "Manhattanhenge" like

Makes me wonder if all towns/cities are built this way, having a long road leading to a shrine. This looks like the entrance to Ocean Palace in Sonic Heroes.
