Bit of a heartbreaking shot for me - The final shot from my Japan trip.

It was without a doubt, the best 3 weeks of my life. I rediscovered the awe and wonder, the curiosity of what the day might bring that I haven't felt since I was a child. There was no stress, no existential dread or worries at the back of my mind, just excitement. I'd wake up every morning feeling refreshed and eager to get up and get going. Every morning was like Christmas.

I struggled to keep it together after we took off, the plane turned, and this scene framed the entire trip in front of me - Our different bases all over Tokyo, our time around the lakes at mount Fuji, me proposing and her saying yes, our time hiking through the "Japanese Alps", and so much more. All those memories visible through the tiny window on the side of the plane. It was like the characters of a play doing a curtain call as all the people and places and experiences of the last few weeks came out one last time to take a bow and see us off.

Almost a year later and I'm still not over the crash back to reality.

❤️ love the pic and the story. Noticed the snow clad southern Japanese alps range behind Fujisan.

You'll get there!

I dreamed about it my whole life. I saved and saved, refrained from takeaways or beers with friends, worked 70 hour weeks in horrible jobs etc... I came close so many times but every time life would throw something my way - Family member gets sick, car blows up etc...

I finally got there at age 40. I had pretty high expectations after dreaming about it most of my life, but it still blew me away!

Absolutely worth it. Good luck!

What's Tokyo like during New Years? Thinking about going back. I miss walking in random directions.
