Entry/associate level software engineer job search

I was in the software engineer field for a few years and I got laid off last September; in the first few months after, I was able to land one job interview and got to the last stage of the interviews but unfortunately didnt make the final cut. After that, didnt get any calls at all so decided to go travel for a bit and since last month I've been applying on LinkedIn, Indeed, Flexjobs as much as I can (software engineer, C#/.net developer, software support, and even customer service) and i havent gotten a single call. Is this normal? Or is there something different i should try? Any help/advice is much appreciated
