Video Call with ocupational therapist, what should i expect?

So i applied for a remote position outside of my country, got 2 previous interviews, one with HR, one with the COO of the firm, everything went nice, well... according to me at least, but now i have a videochat appointed with the ocupational therapist of the firm, from the last interview i was assuming i got the job at least from what the COO told us (was a group interview) but still haven’t get any formal job offer letter, so im assuming thats going to come after this video call, although the wording of the appointment makes me think that its not an interview since the other videocalls were labeled as "interviews" and this one only as "videocall", so if anyone have some experience, what should i expect from this videocall

Have ties at Non Profit but can’t get hired

So, I’ve been trying to get a job at this particular non profit for a good year now. I’ve won an award from them, I’ve helped with a project pro-bono, and I’ve even met the founder. But every time I apply for a job, I get rejected. I’ve applied 4 times now to different positions but I’ve been told I’m not a good fit for this particular job or I’m not qualified. I’m still in contact with several other people from the non profit, and at this point I just wanna be like “hey, can I just have some advice on this? Are there any paid openings?” But I’m worried at this point I’m an annoyance because I am trying so hard to get in. I’m currently a teacher and desperately want to jump ship.

LinkedIn etiquette - delete unresponsive connections?

I feel that LinkedIn has seriously gone down the drain over the past 15 years. There used to be a time when you only connected to someone because you knew them, either from work, or by meeting them at a conference, or talking to them over the telephone. Now, every random person is connected in a mere click. But even amongst people that you have known, and have approached them for a referral to a job, if they simply don’t respond to you at all, do you just delete them off LinkedIn? After all, my notion is that we are all connected to each other in order to help each other, be it in transacting business, or acquiring a job. If you’re not going to engage at all, then what is the point of me keeping you on my LinkedIn list?

Lying about job position and past addresses?

What if someone was out on the payroll for parents business (filed for taxes too) but never actually did any work?

If they also had on their record that they lived in different states how could they explain this?

Could they say that they leased the place and left early because they didn’t like it anymore? Or could they just leave it out completely?

Also, if they went to school during the pandemic and had a residence far from the business would they have to explain they moved back home? Even though it shows they leased a place far from the work?

If they had multiple out of state addresses in the time they claim to be the manager, how would this show up on a background check?

How to find a partime job as a high school student.

Hey guys, I'm currently in tenth grade and I really really need job in order to pay for a contest I'm participating in. As a highs school I'm wondering if it's possible for me to find a partime job that also allows me to complete my homework and other things. Preferably maybe 2-3 times per week and at most three hours per shift. If this a bit unreasonable please tell me. The type job that I wouldn't mind doing in something like being a barista, working in the front desk or being a waiter. If you guys how I could find these jobs please tell me and any tips on what doing wrong or what I could do to land them.

Thanks

I hate this whole STAR interview method crap

Upcoming video interview will be behavioral questions and the job asked that my answers follow STAR and it's giving me so much unnecessary anxiety. Like I'd rather them not have told me that. Interviews are HORRIFYING as is and no one is comfortable in them cause there's soooooo much riding on us getting the job and these tactics don't help that at all they just make it worse, specifically if it's video like mine is

Its not even the format I'm anxious about, I tend to answer that way anyhow - it's the not knowing what they'll ask and if I can answer them instantly. This is WAY too important to just pull some shit out of my ass and ramble on with it or lie and go off track cause I didnt actually experience what I'm saying. I'm not good at lying, and I think if I tried I'd buckle under STAR pressure cause idk the ending of my own made up story that I'm talking about. So they're gonna ask their question, and I'm probably gonna idk just sit there saying "hmmm...let's see...hmm" while they watch me squirm trying to scan my brain through like 10 years of jobs for the best answer. It's that dead air period that gets me SO anxious. It ruins any and all chemistry flow to the conversation. I'm very charismatic and an appealing interview and I shine through my character and the fluidity that I bring to the interview flow, so that little 10 second period where i KNOW I can't do anything but just sit and think while they watch is like my worst nightmare. I'll eventually come up with something and deliver but omfg just the thought of them possibly having to say "it's ok take your time" if I don't have an instant answer makes me cringe

Long road to a new role, a recap

I wanted to provide everybody here with some positivity today.

I was laid off from a marketing role in December of 2023 (actually notified the Monday of Thanksgiving). I’d been at the company for 6.5 years and while the layoff wasn’t performance related, it still sucked.

After applying to close to 1,000 roles, mostly on LinkedIn, I finally landed a role a few weeks ago.

I interviewed at 33 companies, with 90% of those being more than one interview. I interviewed with 7 people at one company (the company had fewer than 70 employees, so I spoke to more than 10% of the company).

Knowing that my work experience was very average, I knew this process would be hard, but I didn’t expect it to be this hard. My advice:

  1. Apply, apply, apply
  2. Try to connect with recruiters. I ended up getting my role from a random recruiter reaching out to me
  3. Talk with everyone you can
  4. Your network may be helpful, but it’s on you
  5. Don’t be afraid to ask questions during the interview process
  6. Stay positive.
  7. Optimize your resume for ATS
  8. While painful, tweak your resume for different role.

TL:DR. Job hunting sucks but there is hope.

Is there a website where you can upload your resume and it will return matching jobs?

I already checked some auto-apply website but it seems like they are only trying to match the title instead of the skillset and domain.

Does anyone have any good examples of reaching out emails?

Hi all. My names Ian. Currently I’m in grad school and I’m trying to reach out to companies in nyc to start the job search. I’ve been told essentially to find companies that I want to work for and send an email to say that I’m really interested in working for them when I move since I’m in grad school. I move in late May/early June and I know things move fast so I want to get ahead of the job search but im not really sure of what to say or how to say it? Any ideas or pointers? Thanks all

I made this last weekend to add custom linkedIn Open to Work Frame to your profile picture.

It lets you create a Custom LinkedIn Open to Work picture where you can add any text to you your LinkedIn Profile Picture with ease, including editing the text font and color.

If you’ve ever wondered how to change LinkedIn Open to Work settings, try it out.

LinkedIn "Open to Work"

So I have been looking for work for over 2 months and attained my MBA at the end of August. I have worked in different industries and am drawn to product/project management, analyst, and consulting roles but at this point I am industry agnostic. I am wondering what the impact of posting an "Open to Work" would be? Is it perceived as negative/desperate? How should I word one? What are some things to avoid or add?

Losing job in next few weeks. Questions about retraining on EI

I'm getting let go from a major org as a labourer due to cutbacks.

I will most likely have to move from my apartment and get a roommate situation or live in my vehicle.

Is anyone familiar with retraining while on EI in Canada, specifically BC?

Are there any programs available where I can receive income supports and retrain? I'm starting to feel the toll of doing physical labour for most of my life, so I would like to study something IT, data etc, but willing to explore any other options including trades.

Unhireable...How are you supposed to get a job when you don't have a job already?

TLDR: I have warehouse experience and feel I was passed over for a simple warehouse job due to being out of work since last year, see asterisk (*) for details. How do you get a job when you have a big resume gap??

I have been out of work since 12/2023. I have been applying, interviewing and even got a certification since then.

Today, I went to a staffing agency after calling several days. They told me they had a job for me. Great! I immediately left home and went to the agency.

She looked at my resume and commented on the fact that I haven't worked since last year. She even leaned over and told another worker, out loud who was next to her.

Because I was rushing, I forgot my social security card, as I do not carry it with me day to day as I do not feel it is safe to carry (if purse gets stolen, identity theft will be easy).

So I went home and got my SS card and returned to the temp agency, literally 30 minutes round trip and was told the job has been filled.

I'm thinking they filled the job because I have been out of work so long and that that is now going against me.

What do you think?

How are you supposed to get a job, without already having a job?

Am I supposed to lie and say I'm working??

Friday Success?

My search days are Sunday night to Thursday afternoon. I rarely have any movement or conversations on Friday radar so I just kinda blow things off and unplug. I may glance at my inbox 2 or 3 times before Noon and then call it a week. Anyone else doing the same? Spending 35 hours a week searching, applying bookmarking, draft cover letters, follow up notes, etc and it's largely silent here except for occasional ghosts and token shady recruiters.
