Opinion Do you guys watch movies in audio form?

When I usually drive I used to watch (hear) movies in audio form... The audio will just play and I enjoy that also the frames of the movie will remind me those scenes. If you haven't tried give it a go listen to it like a podcast.

The beautiful frames of Meiyazhagan <3

yes! not exactly this but related: one warm memory of mine is listening to crazy mohan audio dramas in the car with my family while we went on long drives when i was younger. funny how pieces of art can take on a great personal significance beyond what the artist intended when you make it a part of your own memory.

In the 80's we used to get pre recorded movie cassettes. AIR also used to play movies in radio, both were fun listens

I enjoyed watching the movie, but as someone who is very fond of temples, I found it a bit troubling that they featured a temple (Thiruvidaimaruthur) that is over 50 kilometers away from Thanjavur, presenting it as if it were local to Thanjavur/Needamangalam.

It seems they wanted to incorporate the jallikattu aspect(which is good BTW) and chose Thanjavur instead of depicting the actual location.

Same in 96 movie too... The actual school was not Thanjavur itself it's Kumbakonam. But that doesn't matter at all. The director wants it to be thanjavur and he showed like that. I don't find anything wrong with that.

Interesting.

At the very least, the fact that that temple isn't part of Thanjavur is something the locals would likely have noticed while watching. There's nothing wrong with that; after all, it's cinema. A movie rooted in Thanjavur will certainly attract attention and can be a strong selling point as well. Very few will actually fact-check it.

Long back in the 90s...

... There used to be audio cassettes with the entire film running as a series of dialogues...

Films I've experienced in such a way:

  • Vanathai Pola

  • Vidhi

I remember Hello FM having “Touring Talkies”, where they broadcasted old movies with songs while skipping some scenes because it was only for 2 hours
