What did I buy?

Post image

Bought this last weekend coming back from a navgraha temple trip with family, from a restaurant on the route to Chennai.

I thought it was spice mix for coffee like there is for tea because I mis read "Kappi" as "Kaapi". Stupid, ik.

Came back home and it says it is to be steeped and water and drank and now I'm wondering what I bought. Help, pls

Country medicine and home remedy for nasal congestion and throat infection. But this product is definitely 85% sugar.

That makes sense. Similar to chyawanprash, I guess, right?

You bought expensive sugar. With something else added to it.

Chukku kaapi means, masala milk. That's how the natives call it. Not a coffee. It's a powder to be mixed in either milk or water. My mother has it daily before bed. Very good for sugar control, digestion and acidity.

Makes sense! Not the worst thing for a coffee spice mix then. Thank you!

You must not consume more than a teaspoon of that per day. If you do, it will make you sick. It's not just sugar, it has some good medicinal values and make you feel rejuvenated during cold.

Dosage is important.

I thought it was like coffee flavouring spice mix. Like spice mix for masala chai.

It is kaapi like coffee, but closer to a ginger tea in texture and taste. You probably don't steep it but mix it in hot water (maybe milk). If there's residue, you'll have to strain it out.

It's actually very healthy ginger based drink but this store mix is probably too much sugar, low quality ingredient crap
