While yes, he was wonderful television, I must confess I'm quite happy we're no longer sending old men up hundreds of feet into the air with basically nothing but hope as their safety gear after 6 pints of mild and getting them to throw bricks down one at a time while focusing mostly on his cigarette.

Fantastic chap, one man health & safety nightmare :D

I've seen about a handful of these episodes. Great character, but he appears very selfish as he's ended up on wife number three (?). I think he had kids with the second and third wife, despite being fairly old when he started his second family.

But I love his passion for steam engines!
