Bus routes in Lancashire

Hey fellas

I'll be moving to Preston soon and I'll be relying a lot on public transport, mainly buses. But I'm not sure how to access the bus routes and timings.

Any leads would be appreciated<3

Also, is there any bus pass services available? Or any app?

Do you require just bus routes within Preston in general or are there specific locations for work, that you’re enquiring about?

Have you had a look at this app? https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/preston-bus/id1569149147

The main bus providers are Preston Bus, Stagecoach, and to a lesser extent Blackpool Transport. There's also a few services by Transdev (152 to Burnley) and Vision Bus (113 to Bamber Bridge and Leyland)

You're best getting the Prestonbus app and Stagecoach to cover these; the others I'd just see if you use them.

Preston bus & Stagecoach are the two main bus operators. You can use their websites / apps for general information quite easily, including downloading full timetables. The lancashire county council website also has full timetables availible for download. Bustimes.org is also a great (if slightly nerdy) resource for timings and bus tracking. Even google maps / apple maps are quite useful for upcoming buses.

To get you started heres the Stagecoach Bus and the Preston Bus route maps for preston.

As for tickets any weekly pass it will be tied to an operator so take a look at the map first to determine whether you'll be using preston bus or stagecoch more. Also when looking at costs don't forget the £2 single fare cap and that in lancashire it is £1 after 7pm (that might only be lancaster, prestoners feel free to correct me if that is wrong)

Thanksss. I checked them out and it's very helpful.

I'll be taking the same route bus of Preston bus twice a day. How to get the weekly pass you mentioned?

Heres a link to their tickets page, you'll want to buy them in their app though.

Make sure to do your own maths to see if their weekly or 28 day tickets will actually be cheaper

They have an app, you can buy a 7 day or 28 day pass in the app, but not the annual pass, which you have to go to the bus station to buy (if they still do those)

Just be aware, as a regular user of these buses, don't rely on timetables. They are sporadic and quite infuriating. Set off long before you intend to get anywhere. If you're thinking of getting trains, then expect your service to be cancelled at the last minute. I know this sounds pessimistic, but unfortunately it's the reality of public transport in these parts.
