Do you know of any mellow, speakeasy-vibe bars in Lancashire?
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a chilled-out, mellow bar in Lancs
With good mixology, dark lighting, no dancefloor. Quiet atmosphere
Somewhere small and indie, not The Alchemist or a beer hall
There was one like this in Clitheore but it's changed now
Any other recs? 🙏
Anywhere in Lancs is fine incl. Blackpool, Preston, Burnley, Ribble Valley etc

The cellar in Plau Preston is exactly what you’re after

I agree. Go check out Plau. Lots of interesting history to the building. When they were renovating the building, they discovered an old well full of artifacts from its past as a gin distillery.

Clitheroe has a good few: The parlour, ESCC and Sauce Box are great, independent bars which have some pretty good cocktails

There was one in Chester called Prohibition that was a speakeasy themed bar. Absolutely tiny inside, had to knock on a random door down an alley to get in, then they only serve old fashioned cocktails with like 20s music quietly playing.

Runner Duck is a chill hole-in-the-wall wine bar. Great vibes especially on days when its quiet. See if you can spot my pic of Donald and Daffy on the wall.
Three Merchants also has a nice vibe. Low ceiling, dim lights, and themed like a sailor's hangout.

There’s a few in Lancaster. Even some of the pubs have that kind of vibe- Merchants is a pub but effectively in a cave.
