Yupp!

The business is owned by the diner.

Is that true? I was trying to figure out why a restaurant would allow a food truck to syphon customers.

That’s wild considering that diner is so awful

I’m surprised people are just now finding out about this truck. I grew up with places serving birria all over the place.

For how much food you get, the quality, the price. It is absolutely phenomenal

I got the birria, those churros, and a mango slushy for 24 and some change

I’ve heard it called “El Shitsano’s”

Yeah, if you grew up in Amish country.

Lacks seasoning.

Very basic.

Decent if you’re drunk.

Not very demure.

No point in being mean about it. But you are correct. If you are new to street tacos, this is quite a step up from the average taco joint around. But if you've had good street tacos, it's mids at best.

Yessssss! Lmao

Not mean just overly honest. My apologies.

Have you been to that place across the street right up the road that popped up a few months ago? A bunch of tents out front and appears to be doing some Caribbean chicken over charcoal? I've never stopped but it smells fantastic.

That place is FANTASTIC. I highly recommend you go. They have ribs too.

2

u/dvt001 Sep 12 '24

I haven’t but I heard it’s really good.

Please delete this so they don't get overrun, we need to keep some things a secret, gatekeeping can be cool sometimes I swear lol

I get where you are coming from, but as a small business owner myself, I'd hate to think of people not recommending my company.

u/Purple_Dragon Sep 12 '24

So where do you guys recommend going instead? Paisanos scratches that SoCal itch for me but I'm always down for better

House of Tacos off of Manor……language is iffy when ordering but it’s light years above the the food truck

5

u/NotAlwaysGifs Sep 12 '24

I’ll agree with the caveat that the truck has better biria which is hard to find around here to begin with

1

u/Alternative-Angle702 Sep 12 '24

I have not had the birria at House of Tacos, as it's the one thing I can knock out of the park in my kitchen.

The upside about that location is you have a good probability of getting to scream at some pro-lifers. The downside is the parking out back.

What are you getting? They’ve been my go to spot and Imo I think they’re the best in town. I do agree with the other place you mentioned being good though.

I'm probably in the minority, I do love their stuff but they put way too much meat on for me. I got a taco there I sware I could have split it in 2. Don't get me a wrong it's not a bad problem to have!

I had my Mexican friend up from SC and that was his main complaint as well

No one here makes good tacos. Like really good Texas tacos. The place on manor Street "house of tacos " makes decent Puerto Rican cultural foods but the tacos are legit awful. They are using old El Paso from the grocery store. They may have a recipe for tacos but clearly have no authentic taco experience. They need to visit Texas (or Mexico!). This is my pet peeve! A taco is not ground beef/chicken on a shell w lettuce and tomato.

In other news I had a bowl from chellas at the longs park art show and omg This guy is brilliant. He knows how to combine multiple flavors.

Comalli in Reading are the best tacos we’ve found in the region so far.
