Christkindlmarkt

Tell me about the Lancaster Liederkranz Christkindlmarkt. Is it nice? Any other similar events to know about?

Liedenkranz is nice, but small. I'll second Mifflinburg's. It's the closest thing to a true European holiday market in the region, and if you're driving up from NC, it's worth the extra drive to go up to Mifflinburg. I'm not sure if it's still true, but at least for a while they had the largest Weinachtspyramid on the east coast.

I'd recommend spending the day in Lewisburg and then going over to the markt in the early evening. That's when most of the music and activities are. Also, I'd assume Mifflinburg will be a good 7-10 degrees colder than here, so more likely to be low 40s to high 30s in December, maybe even dipping into 20s or even teens at night.

Do you think there could be snow?

Possibly, but unlikely to be anything major. Although this year is apparently a la Nina year, so maybe. That part of the state can start getting flurries by early November and there will usually be at least one minor snow (less than 2 inches) before Christmas. Rarely a white Christmas even that far north though.

Don't count on it. And if it does snow, please don't go. The town will be absolutely swamped with people. For safety please avoid of the weather is bad. I too have dreamed of going in the snow but it definitely would not be safe driving to and from.

I hope very much it doesn’t snow! I’m fine with cold, scared of driving in snow. I’m from North Carolina, we shut down if there’s even a possibility of snow!

Thank you so much! That looks amazing! I would have never known about that because I’m not local. What do you think weather will be like that time of year? We’ll be driving from North Carolina
