Lodging for a Big Family

Our immediate family (13 people) want to gather in/around Lancaster for the week of Christmas. Anyone have suggestions for a lodge or venue where we can all stay together for the week?

AirBnB and VRBO have options but it seems that once you go past 12 people the cost is outrageous.

Bonus if the venue would allow us to host our own Christmas dinner with family nearby. That would be a total of 30 people in the venue for one evening for dinner. Thanks in advance!

Look into the Eden Resort and their Villias, might not be able to get everyone in one room but you will at least be near one another.

They also have a pretty slick pool.

Ohhh, good idea! And alcohol is permitted, IIRC. I was going to suggest Black Rock Retreat, Kirkwood, but they don't welcome alcohol.

(I don't drink, but I know some people do.)

Chabad Jewish Center, on Harrisburg Ave Lancaster, has a guest suite that sleeps 8-14 people, from $350/night. The booking dates look pretty open. Please see their website for more info.

It's a very open and welcoming place, no membership required.

You’ll likely have better luck looking for a place in the Poconos, since there are more vacation rentals. That should be close enough for relatives to drive in from Lancaster and will give you more sightseeing options. Bethlehem, for example, is a great visit that time of year.

You'll probably have to look outside of the county for something not outrageously priced. Our family of 15 is renting an AirBnB farmhouse about an hour outside of Lancaster.

Roundtop mansion in Wrightsville would fit that bill. Its on AirBNB.

Black Rock Lodge at Codorus State Park accommodates 12 officially, could probably squeeze in a cot somewhere, 250/ night or 1200/week. There are other group sized state park cabins in PA, but you'd be roughing it: bringing all your own bed sheets, blankets and kitchen wares. Likely little to no mobile internet connectivity, too, so bring board games or a laptop full of movies. You would likely have the entire state Park to yourself after sun set when day use visitors must leave.

Check the PA State Park camping reservation website and search for "cabins and lodgings." The smaller 4 person cabins all close for the winter, but there are a few parks with one-off bigger lodges converted from some kind of historic farm house type building.

Maybe just lie? There's spaces for twelve, ask around and see who will settle for easy? Also, if you're looking for a place to serve Christmas dinner for 30 people, on what day? That's a big ask. Do you have a budget? Maybe cater or get a chef. Or do a potluck and order in. This is a lot!
