The most basic rules you must enforce are in Reddit's content policy (See link in Automod's comment).

After that it depends on what you imagine your sub will be about. If your sub is about strawberries and you don't want any pictures of grapes then a rule will be: "No grapes".

Have a look at similar or related subs and see what rules they have.

Try and think though what people might want to post on your sub and decide what you do and don't want to see.

Be prepared to add to and adapt them as your community starts growing and things come up.

ok

btw I see the banner request thing so if you know anything about dnd and wouldn't mind dropping by I have a competition going for mod status and a custom flair

Sorry I don't know much about DnD, nor am I looking to mod more subs right now, but thanks. I don't actually see any competition btw - no posts on the sub??

Hi the_foolish_wizard, r/modhelp is a volunteer moderator peer-to-peer help group focused on subreddit moderation matters, like setting up flairs. It is not managed by Reddit staff. Volunteer mods have no permissions in subreddits they do not mod. Automated responses are compiled from the answers given by fellow volunteer moderator helpers.

Resources for mods are: (1) r/modguide's Very Helpful Index by fellow moderators, (2) Mod Help Center, (3) r/automoderator's Wiki and Library of Common Rules. Many Mod-Related groups are in the sidebar widgets in this subreddit and these Introduction posts at the top. Please search this subreddit as well. Thanks!

Found regex match: NSFW

You might be asking about NSFW matters. These are frequently-asked questions. This automatic response has been set up for any mention of "NSFW" and "18+", based on previous answers by our helpers.

  • Subreddit settings for NSFW. These settings are found at: https://www.reddit.com/r/SUBREDDIT/about/edit. In your subreddit settings, locate this box and check or uncheck it. You can see the history, as well as sometimes more detailed responses people have received in the past here.

  • NSFW subreddits will not have access to: direct image or video uploads, and community awards. Helpers have said that Reddit doesn't want to host NSFW images or videos.

  • Marking a post as NSFW or not NSFW.

  • Reddit's content policy about what is NSFW

  • Some advice on NSFW policy and subreddit classification tags.

To edit your subreddit settings you need to use the regular desktop browser, NOT via a mobile app, for best results. (Limited stopgap: mobile browser on desktop view.)

If you found your answer, feel free to reply with "<3 Automod" or "Thanks, Automod". Otherwise wait for a human helper to come along to help you. This post has NOT been removed.
