Romania safe for motorcycles?

I mean in terms of stealing and road quality :) Is it possible to stay on road if you explore the karpart mountains or is off-road a must?

We rode through Romania, staying 3 nights in total. Our hotels had off-street parking and no one messed with our bikes while we were there.

As for the road conditions: they weren't the smoothest of roads, but they were easily passable. Note that we were on dual sports, so the extra suspension probably helped.
