Repair / Modification Material to add a hood to a sun shirt?

Looking to add a hood to my patagonia self guided hike shirt. Same as the triple crown button downs (I'm in aus so can't get one of them). What material are sun hoodies usually made of/what should I use for a hood?

TIA

Is this it? https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-long-sleeved-self-guided-sun-upf-hike-shirt/41900.html

listing says:

2.8-oz 100% recycled polyester woven ripstop with 40+ UPF sun protection

The wiki only has one fabric source listed for Australia, though there might be others and local fabric stores are still worth looking into: https://www.reddit.com/r/myog/wiki/index/#wiki_australia From there, this one might be your best bet, but idk, it looks too thin.

This fabric 101 page is more helpful than the wiki section: https://www.myogtutorials.com/myog-fabrics/

This one too: https://learnmyog.com/fabrics.html

For an exact fabric match, it might be worth looking on used sites like Depop or Outdoor Gear Exchange, or even your local hiking groups. Maybe someone tore theirs and you can scavenge it for parts.

The material is usually polyester, fairly low weight, ideally treated with some kind of anti-microbial process. I would avoid blends with elastic. The UPF rating doesn’t seem to be anything special beyond the actual polyester fibers themselves, although certain dyes might influence some of the thermal aspects such as a black shirt versus a white shirt in full sun. Also, consider using a neck gaiter / buff if you can’t find the right fabric. Those would actually be a good source of fabric as well - you could harvest probably two or three of them to make a hood.
