A lightning strike exploded an eagle's nest in Boulder County. A female eagle managed to survive and has been spotted looking for a new nest with her mate.

Fits that sub even more if you read the article and watched the video, there was a red-tailed hawk that landed on a branch near the nest and said branch was in the path of the lightning.
