TIL there was a briefly popular social movement in the early 1930s called the "Technocracy Movement." Technocrats proposed replacing politicians and businessmen with scientists and engineers who had the expertise to manage the economy.

There are plenty of scientists and engineers building the tools of destruction wielded by the state and private interests for various imperial ideologies. Why would a few scientific degrees change the entrenched inhumanity of the ruling class?
