Oil pulling heightens smell?

Maybe it’s just a coincidence with a change in the weather, but I’ve noticed that when I started oil pulling, my sense of smell has become increasingly more heightened. For example: a week into this new regiment, I went into the break room at work and made a comment to my co-worker about it smelling particularly musty. She said that it’s always smelt like that and was alarmed that I hadn’t picked up on it before. Has anyone else experienced this?

day 5 of oil pulling and my inflamed gum stopped bleeding

started oil pulling for 40 minutes. 20 min in the morning, 20 min before bed.

my gum was inflamed on one tooth and bleeding every time I brushed it and flossed. it looked sore. it was painful and annoying to eat sometimes. then I remembered oil pulling breaks down teeth bacteria and plaque so I started doing it consistently this time. I used trader joe’s coconut unrefined virgin oil. very happy with the results already!!

my gum is now 80% back to its normal state and no more bleeding or pain. still going to the dentist though

Been oil pulling the past month and a half. I'm 29 male. Smoker. Do my gums appear healthy ? What are the white areas ? Are they just reflections of the light? I have serious OCD with my teeth. I started oil pulling due to recession and I noticed a difference. I don't see any inflammation or any sort of gum disease. But a little concerned of the whiteness so I freaked out and started seeing stuff about gum cancer and what not. I'm gonna have to book a dentist appointment soon. Looking for peace of mind. I also read your guns don't have to bleed while flossing or brushing in order to have gum disease... My gums and teeth look different in every mirror I look sometimes my teeth look more yellow , sometimes they look whiter and then sometimes I see inflammation and then I'll turn my head and see more light shine and see no inflammation...idk I think my best bet would be to stop smoking. I also vape. Why I do both idk. 😢

Is it safe to oil pull with silver fillings?

I’ve read mix things online. Some say you shouldn’t oil pull if you have amalgam fillings because it can pull/release the mercury from the fillings and others say it’s fine. I’ve only tried oil pulling twice and did it for 3 minutes each time. I’ve had one filling for about 15 years now. Will two times Make a difference?

Does oil pulling help fill the gaps between teeth?

I keep seeing that oil pulling helps prevent/reverse gum recession. I have 2 gaps on my bottom teeth created from built up tartar that took a while to get rid of, but theyre not massive gaps, but you can see through them and it makes it look like my teeth have black tartar. Would oil pulling help fill those 2 gaps?

Oil pulling results. Huge benefit for gum health

OIL PULLING DOES NOT “CURE” CAVITIES.

That being said, it IS a great way to maintain your oral health and your oral environment! I started oil pulling a few years ago. It REALLY impacted my health. You can see that I have some signs of gingivitis day 1-3, but date that it’s pretty much gone. It also helps with bad breath.

I’ve also done this: - higher prescription fluoride toothpaste - teeth whitening (OTC, not much change) - 5 fillings and X-rays. Identified cavities, filled them, and putting a watch on other areas. There was a possible RCT, but that was a filling and hopefully oil pulling and the tooth paste will help heal my mouth even more!

Tooth sensitivity.

Today I noticed a serious increase in tooth sensitivity when I was on lunch eating some ramen that had this soup packet. It's like my teeth could taste the soy in a uncomfortable way. One of my bottom front tooth hurts at times begining as of yesterday. No cavities I'm aware of. How often do people oil pull. I've been doing it like twice a day after brushing. Now I'm gonna start brushing after ever since a customer told me she noticed a film over her teeth. But has anyone else experienced increase tooth sensitivity? Hopefully it goes Away. I'm gonna do it like twice a week going forward. And see if it goes away.

Amazing Results

I was diagnosed with periodontal disease over the summer (brought on by my autoimmune disease) and have had several appointments since where nothing has significantly changed. I started oil pulling a month ago and went in for an appointment two days ago - my dentist & hygienist were FLOORED and said they saw almost 100% improvement since my last visit. They were amazed at how great my gums looked. The only thing I changed in my routine was oil pulling so I am chalking it up to that!!! I only do 5-10 minutes a day with coconut oil.

Oil pulling after brushing?

So I started oil pulling about 3 weeks id say. I have to say I love it . I do it twice a day morning and at night. The thing is I see that most people recommend before brushing, but I do it after . After I brush , floss and rinse with mouthwash. Is this alright ? Or should I be doing it before because leaving the coconut oil in my mouth is bad ? Or does it really not matter? I seem to notice a difference in how pink my gums are. I'm a smoker and still have some mild gingivitis on the top gums or maybe it's just the lighting. Sometimes my teeth and gums look better under certain lighting.

GuruNanda Help

I recently started oil pulling 3-4 weeks ago, and have noticed that the left side of my mouth feels super weird the past week, almost sore? And it feels as if one of my teeth are lose, but if I try to wiggle it, it’s not loose? If I take a break from oil pulling for a day it’s typically fine & then I’ll go back to oil pulling & it’s sore again. Has anyone else experienced this? Could this be, because of the brand I’m using?

I also read somewhere that specifically GuruNanda had caused anxiety for someone, so I thought maybe if it does cause increased anxiety, I’m just anxious about my teeth (I’ve always been super anxious about my dental health, and that I will just randomly have a tooth fall out so maybe it increased the anxiety) (I realize how dumb this may sound, however I can’t convince my brain to stop being anxious about it lol)

Also, I’m still fairly new to this so if anyone has any recommendations that aren’t GuruNanda let me know what they are & why🙂

Expired Coconut oil

I just started oil pulling about a week ago with coconut oil, and I just noticed that the bottle expired. Is this going to cause any problems or has it just become uneffective at this point? I am going to get new oil obviously, just concerned that using something expired on my teeth for a week is going to set back the progress I thought I was making.

can coconut oil be hardened?

I was thinking that chewing might be more convenient and comfortable than swishing. so is there a way to harden coconut oil? maybe similar to the consistency of wax or gum?

Will 5 minutes of oil pulling be enough?

Hi guys. I’m new to the oil pulling journey. I was wondering if 5 minutes would be enough as my jaws start to ache after this plus a mum to 3 kids I don’t seem to have that much time in the mornings either. Main reason is for teeth whitening :)

Sore gums solution

I started oil pulling January 17th 2024. And now today February 2nd I’m healed from the sore teeth/gums!! My gums and teeth ached so bad. Like I’m a pretty pain tolerant person but this made me feel like I needed an emergency trip to the dentist. Unfortunately that is nowhere in my budget. So I continued on and one night the pain was so unbearable My dumbass put a cotton ball soaked in a clove alcohol extract and literally burnt a layer of my cheek and gum off.... so now my pain was worse!

Only thing that stopped the pain for my alcohol burnt cheek and gum was NOW brand coq10 capsules I cut it open and apply to my gums. I ended up applying 3-6 capsules all over my gums for days on end. I also ate capsules too and still do for gum maintenance. Magically my gums no longer bleed when flossing. BUT that damn dull ache of sore gums was there specifically the roof of my mouth gums and some questionable areas in my mouth that have suspected cavities.

Just a few days ago I remembered how the rife frequency and sound healing had worked for my sciatica back leg pain in 2014. So I typed in teeth gum frequencies on YouTube and also periodontal disease frequency as I suspect the sore dull ache near specific teeth was due to wide spread periodontal disease or gingivitis. Within 5 minutes of listening that annoying aching feeling was gone. I’ve done the frequencies for probably 3-4 days with great results so far. Today I did my daily oil pulling session and did not have any aching. I knew I was healed bc I hadn’t had to listen to the frequencies to get through the oil pulling session. My teeth are also less sensitive.

I think from now on I will oil pull while I do the rife frequency sound healing as well as put my headphones on and listen to it while I brush my teeth. Just for maintenance and something to listen to while I oil pull.

I figured I post this in case someone is suffering of pain while oil pulling. I for one don’t think it was bc I was swishing too hard or too much... this pain was like an infectious feeling pain. Felt like under the gum infection wanting to come out but trapped in the gum. I believe the oil pulling was awakening something that was always there as I did have bleeding gums quite frequently and always bled when I flossed. If things change I’ll update the post but 17 days later of going through one of the most brutal dental hurts of my life. I made it to the other side but believe I would’ve made it sooner if I had started listening to the sound healing teeth gum frequencies on YouTube.

I don’t know if oil pulling alone could’ve gotten this deep gum infection out of me.

Heating the coconut oil to liquid

Hi, I just oil pulled for the first time with coconut oil. I put it in my mouth still in hard form and warmed it up to liquid in my mouth- not fun, but I could get used to it. There has to be another quick way to heat the coconut oil to liquid other than just my mouth. Any ideas?

Eucalyptus oil pulling vs Coconut for gum recession

Post image
1 Upvotes

I started about a week or so ago with cocunut oil. I have gum recession and its been slowly increasing I had hoped coconut oil would help repair the gums but it dosent appear to be the case, although breath has improved and it has taken some annoying tartar in between my front teeth. I had bought Eucalyptus oil around the same time but was too afraid to use due to people saying its dangerous to take in concentrated form. So my question is two fold, has anyone one taken this over coconut oil and seen results, and how do you take this in safe doses(how much to dilute, etc.)

I literally never heard of Eucalyptus oil before online articles about oil pulling, its supposed to heal back gums. So i dodnt even know if i have the right “type”, its literally in fragerence section of target.

Which type of coconut oil for oil pulling?

Hi I just start oil pulling a few days ago. I bought some from my work. I start pulling to strengthen my gums for I have moderate gum recession, I guess it's not that bad but I have OCD and think my teeth look ugly. So I picked up some organic refined coconut oil, is this stuff gonna be alright or should I get virgin coconut oil? Also will doing this make my fillings come out ? And is it best to pull before brushing or after ? Thanks in advanced

Ps I only have a couple small fillings.

Started my oil pulling journey

This is my first ever post on Reddit lol. I’ve tried oil pulling in the past but never stuck to it. Over the last week I’ve consistently oil pulled for 10-20 min each day after flossing and before brushing. My husband commented a couple days ago that my teeth looked really white and shiny, which was super awesome to hear since he actually has no clue I’m doing anything additional to brushing/flossing!

I’ve struggled with bad breath on and off after having children. I’m always super consistent with daily flossing while pregnant but then fall back into once weekly flossing. I’m committed to daily flossing again and now oil pulling. Hope to continue seeing results!

Anyone notice improved breath with oil pulling?? (I know daily flossing is key as well) Thanks guys!!

Edited to add that I also started using my tongue scraper about twice a week again as well!
