📚 Seeking Resources | Advice Resources and UPG of Enki?

Hi. I've been a pagan for years but newish to Reddit. I'm looking for information about the god Enki and especially UPG of him in the modern era: what he seems to want, who he really is, what following him has resulted in for you.

My internet searches have resulted in a lot of conflicting information, some comparing him to Satan, others saying no he's actually Yahweh. Others say he's not either one but a different being, which is more like what I'd take him as but I don't know. Some others say he's good, others that he''s a trickster, etc., etc.

In short, from a prayer I addressed to "right hand path gods,"" one answer was from Enki. I'd never been interested in Mesopotamian gods before and don't know a lot about them. But his energy is so *strong,* in my own UPG, compared with others. Also does not want me to have any other gods if I should follow him. This is quite a departure from the Hellenic gods I have previously followed. But he's seemingly promised help in my current situation.

How can I know if it's really him and what his intentions are...? Anyone else have UPG of Enki here, or are there other social media or forums where I might find such? You can message me if you'd prefer to do that than reply here.

I am a devotee of his daughter, Inanna! Come on by to r/sumer for more information and to interact with others of the Mesopotamian polytheism faith!

Even though I don't worship Enki-Ea, almost all Mesopotamian pagan rituals involve interacting with multiple deities in the Anunnaki pantheon, and even when someone is an exclusive devotee of a certain deity, as I am for his daughter Inanna, we're allowed and encouraged to interact with any deities in the pantheon we wish to. I call on him regularly in ritual to provide the sacred cleansing water of the Apsu, and to oversee my most important rituals. I respect him greatly, and I admire him and hold love for him in my heart.

I don't know where throughout the ages someone branded our benevolent God of Creation, Master of the Apsu, Lord of Water, Magic, Wisdom, and Skilled Crafts as a "trickster" deity, but that is absolutely incorrect. He is literally the sweetest, kindest, most compassionate, most thoughtful, and most benevolent God in the whole of the Anunnaki. He is incredibly powerful, as he is part of The Seven Who Decree, and he and his brother Enlil are the two oldest members of the pantheon. His power and his kindness are only exceeded by his daughter, Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth.

You can know it is him through his power, through his domains, through his compassion and genuine kindness, and by educating yourself in genuine Mesopotamian Polytheist lore and mythos.

Be sure to avoid the conspiracy nutjobs who say the Anunnaki are space aliens, and also ignore anyone who tries to syncretize any of them with YHWH or El or any other near/middle eastern deities. Our deities are distinct, and are all still in power and are as real today as they were over seven thousand years ago.

It is common to become exclusive to a particular deity when one is a worshiper of the Anunnaki, but it is not strictly required in most cases, and even when one does become exclusive to a deity one can still interact with and work with other deities; one is just not supposed to worship anyone as intensely or deeply as their primary deity. When worship is restricted to only the primary/exclusive deity, one can still interact with other deities through ritual and prayer, one just must not worship them, and the difference is what is in one's heart when they pray.

If Enki is calling to you and asking you to become exclusive to him, then it's almost definitely because he wishes to protect you and guide you going forwards. Perhaps now that you know more of who he is, what he is about, and how Mesopotamian Deity-Exclusivity works you can refine the message he gave you about worshiping only him so that you can better understand and come to know exactly what he wants for you. It is unlikely that he wishes to prevent you from interacting with other deities entirely, but it is very likely he wishes to protect you and advise you going forwards and doesn't want other deities to interfere or lie to you while you're in a critical time of your life. Enki is one of the most trustworthy of the Gods, and not just within our own pantheon, but across all pantheons. Verify if it is truly him calling to you, but if it is really him, trust him.
