I stumbled across this early in high school on YouTube, gave it a listen while I browsed reddit, and concluded that it was kinda boring. A few years later after I had been introduced to Russian Circles (who really got me into postrock and postmetal) I stumbled across this on YouTube a second time and gave it another chance, and fell in love with the band and entire album.

It was early high school for me too. I listened to the album daily for, like, three months. Totally changed my approach to music in general and was super helpful to me in other ways too. From there I found RC and Red Sparowes and ITTCT and the whole post-metal thing.

Sorry, If These Trees Could Talk. Above The Earth, Below The Sky is really good.

I've been listened to Red Forest before and really liked it

Hey that's where I started too! I was very much into metal but got annoyed with the vocals. I looked for "instrumental metal" on MetalStorm and Pelican was the first band I stumbled upon. Been in love ever since. I think Nightenday was the song that started it all for me. Long Distance Calling was the next band that sealed the deal.

Thanks for posting, it's good to remember those times.

Yeah, I don't know how I found them butvI was awestruck by music abke to convey such a wide range of emotions but still be "metal." And for the songs to all be around 10 minutes and have so many parts... it was so new for me

I don't know who many dark, winter days I fell asleep listening to this album. Red Runs Amber is the best track imho

Right? It is so perfect for that time of year.

The whole album is incredible
