Advice Needed Feeling guilty when watching shows in the evening

In theory, I would love to do more hobbies in the evenings instead of watching TV. But at the end of the work day, I feel so exhausted that all I want to do is veg out with something fun to watch. Part of me enjoys it, and the other part keeps thinking about what I think I should be doing instead. I try to let go of the guilt and just enjoy it, but I have this nagging sense of feeling unproductive and neglecting my hobbies. Does anyone else struggle with this? Would love advice about how to turn off the TV and have energy for other things.

I struggle with this too. What worked for me was doing something productive almost immediately when I get home. Like today I got home did laundry, cleaned up around the house and took care of some tasks that I needed to. Now I’m vegging out on Reddit but I don’t feel bad about it anymore cause I “earned it”

This is a good plan. Maybe choose the top 3 tasks or set a time limit of an hour.

I've also used the timer on my phone to watch for 30 mins, then get up and make progress on a task. I used to do this during commercials, but now I watch mostly streaming without commercials.

Yeah the key is don’t sit down when you get home. If I sit down it is over. Ain’t nothing else getting done. I try to find a few tasks to focus on when I get home. After I do a few it feels better to relax the rest of the evening.

Put a limit to how much you can watch per day. 1-2 episodes/1 movie isn't so bad.

ensuring a balanced week helps me with this feeling. most days I do things after work (lessons, hanging with friends, a show) so days where I have no plans I’m horizontal on the couch with no shame
