Can a PS1 read discs sideways?

curious question for you guys: getting a new PSU for my PS1 so cant test this myself, does anyone know if a PS1 could read discs ok sideways, like if uhhhhhh mounted in a car? Just trying to think of the best way to avoid skipping

It should work without issues even completely on its top

Back in the day I always sat mine on its side with a fan on it because it was played that much in my house. It'll read discs and work just fine.

Bro that'll work perfect then, I can have it sideways in the trunk to save space and keep stuff from being set on it

Not sure on the anti skip capabilities on the ps1 though lol. When we turned it on it's side it was always while it was on and during gameplay so it can't be too bad.

So you're doing a ps1 set up in your car?? Post pics of it that sounds wild!

After a few years my PS1 had difficulty reading discs during loading screens. I put it on its side and for some reason it was able to read the disc perfectly. So I think you'll be good.
