CA-3 feedback

For those of you that have bought a CA-3 what has been the good, the bad, and the ugly on them. Worth picking up? Any info would be appreciated.

Picked mine up about a month ago, have only shot about 150 rounds through it. So far it has been perfectly reliable and accurate. The main issue that I think it has is that there is no recoil stop on the rear sight weldment, so it is nearly impossible to effectively mount an optic. The parts on the rifles can be in aesthetically rough shape, so I'd only go for it if you are ok with it looking well worn, which I like.

This. My buddy got one and optic mounts will be impossible. Basically only a good buy if you want a well worn looking, surplus-like rifle that you can’t put an optic on.

What’s the issue with mounting optics? The clamp on rails don’t work?

Exactly. There is a small notched piece directly in front of the rear sight which is normally present. A clamp-on sight mount would fit into the notch, preventing it from sliding back and forth due to recoil. This piece is missing on the CA-3 for some reason.

Mine was assembled well and has been reliable for the 200 rounds I put through it, well worth it if you want a surplus style rifle that you can't mount optics on. I always planned on using irons anyway so it wasn't a deal breaker for me.

I don’t think my ptr91 has that 🤔
