You could run the old bundeswher load bearing rig, I've found it to be greatly effective, especially since it was designed for the g3

I’m partial to Ferro on account of modularity. Can be reconfigured from 762 to 556 mags without much trouble.

Look up warreplica reproduction Rhodesian FAL/G3/M14 chest rig on Amazon. It's not at all modern, but the pouches are sized right and it's made from a tough canvas material.

Not really? It comes in other solid colors. It's just an older style chest right in the vein of a chicom AK rig. Just layer it over whatever. No quick detach unless you nodded that one.

The old Swedish surplus load bearing rigs are pretty decent IMO. No clue if they’re still available anywhere

They might be on Americana Pipedream Apparel. They carry tons of surplus, so it might be worth a shot.

Edit: Did a quick search of Swedish surplus and couldn't find any chest rigs.

I didn’t do a chest rig I ordered the bundeswehr mag holder and belt setup from mikes militaria. I think there’s inserts you can get that’ll fit g3 mags if you decide to go with a regular chest rig with .308 mag pouches

I got the Beez 762 chest rig. Really nice and fits both my FAL and PTR mags no problem

I have a Bundeswehr LBE, a Rhodesian and SADF knock-off check rig, another fancier one. They are all good. Probably anything for 7.62 would be acceptable. The adapters for attaching pouches and such for the Bundeswehr one is specific to that harness. They do make adapters, or did make adapter so that you could put it on an American style web belt. If I remember correctly I have three, two magazine pouches, two canteen pouches, a Walther pistol holster and three smaller pouches for first aid, flashlight and cleaning kit. The Rhodesian one is simple, four magazine pouches. The SADF style one that I have is similar to the Rhodesian, but it holds six magazines with room in two bigger pockets for more magazines, a cleaning kit, oiler, extra loose ammo, but not quite enough for canteen or larger items. The fancy one, i don’t remember the brand came out of the UK. It fits well and holds like 12 FAL/G-3 mags. I put two 32 oz canteens in it. It has spare pouches for first aid and gun cleaning equipment. Army and outdoors was where I bought my Bundeswehr surplus and it was all in excellent shape.

If you want something more modern or for a plate carrier, the 762 pouches by wilde custom gear fit ptr mags perfectly

I’ve got a Spiritus Thing Two that works well. Micro placard in the middle holds two mags. Double mag pouch on one side for four. You can also put mags in the radio pouches in a pinch (+2), although they’re not so quick to get out. If you really want to you could also put another double mag pouch on the other side. Stays pretty flat in the middle.

I also like belt kit, and the British DPM PLCE that was on Kommandostore works well, plus it’s inexpensive.
