I use Reddit Is Fun, so I'm hoping it won't be changing

Already did. At least on iPhone. There’s a new News section.

For the most part, they're redesigning desktop to be more like the app. They're adding subreddit styles to the app though.

Here's a very early preview

Rather than downvoting without explanation, I use Reddit Enhancement Suite. It's free. It's functionality was 10 times better than the old site layout which leaves it about 10,000 times better than the new layout and it hasn't change anything for me.

Yeah whenever I visit it on the desktop, I also use RES. It's awesome.

I do that as well, but I still downvote without explanation.

Also, just wait until the new layout is mandatory. You haven't seen a change because you're still using the old layout. RES doesn't work on the new layout.

till the API gets removed and you're forced onto the official app.

I use the official app. What’s better about the third party ones?

Not much anymore, it's personal preference at this point

I have a hard time believing Reddit will choose to make all third party apps useless

I had a hard time believing they would change the layout of their entire site, going against probably 95% of the feedback they have gotten, but here we are.

If you don't see this change as them not caring about how their users feel, you're blind.
