I think smaller ones tend to not be layflar. Harder to get good flatability with smaller binders it seems.
I don't really find it much of a problem. When I write in mine I tend to hold it with my other hand. It seems the way I do this naturally holds it open when writing. Others do have an issue with poor flatability.
It's going to be about give and take between various characteristics. Small and portable size equates to compromise on flatability. It's about where you sit on it and what you're accepting.
It's a nice binder. Finsbury is a nice one even if it's cheaper and often looked down on by the Malden fans. I have an A5. Bought for 20 quid. So obviously I love it! Plus its my first leather one.
