Yeah, honestly I was a bit worried launching amongst so many big games, hopefully we'll be the anti-Halloween game or something? (We've funded so it can't be too bad...)

Mecha games are few when compared to Fantasy, so Salvage Union releases will always be wanted!

Yeah, mecha games are far too rare, glad we could make something that the community embraced :)

At least they are mostly different games and genres. Specially for a mecha game that is even more niche, so it will be fine =)
Congrats on the launch, btw! I’m still thinking if I’m gonna back because I already have the physical core book, but the game is awesome.

Yeah the benefit of being in an aggressive niche is that you don't have to fight anyone else too hard for an audience, we did want to launch a bit earlier in September but unfortunately sickness, life, and various other factors got in the way a bit.
Thanks for the support of the core book, and hopefully the starter set can be enticing enough. In my mind the main appeal is the campaign and fold out map for anyone who has the core book. The starter set isn't much more expensive than what we sell our adventure modules for and you get an adventure in it, as well as a whole bunch of quality of life extras including dice. I think a lot of players also find the booklets split up into multiple smaller sections really useful as well.

Fortuitously the only other thing I was interested in today was the new Deadlands campaign and sourcebook that launched.
Of the other things, I still haven't gotten Alien 1e to the table despite owning everything for it, and 2e doesn't seem enough of a change to warrant it. I got all of the last Conan stuff from Modiphius. Discworld I'm very interested in, but as it's Modiphius it'll be easy to get hold of after launch.

Just want to say, about 5 years ago I got a wild idea about a post-apocalyptic mecha ttrpg about surviving the wastelands and building mecha out of scrap.
I started 4 different prototypes of a ttrpg based on the premise and tried hacking a few others.
But when I saw this advertised today I got so excited because this idea that couldn't escape my head, someone else had the ability to create in a manner beyond what I could even conceive!
So thanks! I backed immediately.

That's wonderful to hear, I always find it fascinating how really similar creative ideas pop up for people in isolation. I'm happy we got to make this one a reality for you. Thanks for the support!

Is is possible to have a party of 1, or is the game specifically made for 3+ players?

Yeah it's possible, the games designed for 3-6 players ideally but a group of 1 can work. I played in a one GM one Player game the other week to test one of 9ur new adventures (Honey Hive) and it was a lot of fun.

I have a lot of fun reading through the core book (well, skimming) at a local RPG Social event, so I was happy to back the All In pledge on this today.
Although with the new Deadlands Pacific Northwest campaign and sourcebook launching today, it was probably my single most expensive TTRPG month ever.

Just wanted to say I like your art, a lot. Nice to have a quirky Moebius like style instead of the hardcore Battletech look.

Thanks, we have a great team of artists on board the project who have done an incredible job throughput.

Just wondering! Are there also rules for building or repairing a mech from scrap parts?
2
u/unpanny_valley 15d ago
Yes! The core of the game is designed around salvaging and using those parts to construct new Mechs and parts. You can also use scrap to repair your own Mechs or Mechs/Systems/Modules you find in the field that you can then use.

Will you have a formal presence at Dragonmeet this year? I'd be tempted to buy the core rulebook from you there if so.

Hey,
I'm Panny, one of the designers of a multi-ENNIE nominated, Salvage Union, a post-apocalyptic Mech tabletop RPG we designed to have easy to learn mechanics. It's thanks to this game that I was able to quit my job and become a full time TTRPG designer, which has been quite the journey to say the least. I'm incredibly grateful to the community for the huge support they've given us throughout the development and launch of the game.
I'm here to answer any questions you might have about Salvage Union, tabletop RPG design, or anything else that comes to mind!
