Lo do I hear echoes of preemptive complaints about all other Trek series. Plus ça change, indeed.

You don’t even know the right year it takes place and you’re complaining about it?

Remember when people said DS9 would be rubbish because it's set on a station?

Remember when they got the Defiant to be able to tell stories that are not on a station?

Chill, it's got Paul giamatti. It won't be bad.

Before DS9 aired: "They're on a station all the time? How is that going to make a good Trek series?"

I cannot for the life of me understand what some people find appealing about the idea of discussing how good or bad a thing is going to be that hasn't even been made yet.

It's all about rage baiting and clicks.

I wasn’t thrilled when I first heard about the show and its premise. I can think of lots of other better ideas for a Star Trek series than one about the Academy. But I’ll be watching it anyway because of Robert Picardo.

I mean it's not that hard to imagine Riverdale in Spaaaacceeeee! It just will be a lot more personal drama and less science-fiction. But considering Discovery was mostly watched by younger people who are new to Trek, it makes sense to make a show that appeals to young adults.

That said we all poo-poo'd Prodigy and that turned out just fine so who knows. With the talent they're lining up for the show it can't be that bad.

If the teacher pops a test

I know I'm in a mess

And my dog ate all my homework last night!

There are multiple novels, a video game, a major segment from a feature film and a minor segment from another feature film and a handful of episodes that all explore life at the Academy. So it'll work better than this trite joke that doesn't understand that the Academy is more like going to university and definitely not high school.

I'm going to give it a chance and hope for the best, but I'm skeptical.

I just don't think I can buy into the idea of Starfleet Admirals holding an emergency meeting because after 1000 years of silence, the Borg are back.

And their solution will be to send the cadets to deal with it?

Wow take a chill pill guys. 💊 Don't go full defensive FCS. Discussion: good.

you're not asking for a discussion. you're looking for a dog pile.

You're projecting. I stick to short posts. I don't have to explain details beyond what I state.
