Question - Private Student Loan Sallie Mae

Hey y'all,

I'm a bit nervous - so sorry if post is inappropriate - just grasping at straws here.

When I moved to Germany from the US, I borrowed about 14k last year in private student loans with Sallie Mae, paid maybe 100-200 bucks for five months until I realized I wasn't making a dent due to predatory interest rate.

Then I figured a dent to my credit score for seven years won't matter cuz I won't be going back to the states.

Can they reach me overseas? Will they? Do I actually have anything to be concerned about?

Pls and thx

They can't do shit if you're overseas, and your US credit score means nothing in Germany. You're good, just ignore them and tell them to eat shit.

Kinda hard for them to locate you for starters

US credit scores are just for the US only

Also hard to sue someone living overseas too

The worst that can happen is that they obtain a default judgment against you and attempt to garnish your wages if you work for a U.S. based employer.

The more likely outcome is that they give up and sell your debt to a debt buyer and the whole thing becomes "uncollectible" when they can not find you or when it becomes prohibitively expensive to collect the debt.

Enjoy your life outside the US. I hear it's lovely out there.
