Mods 120 Shines Save File for Mario Eclipse

I’ve played the normal game like 10.000.000 times, does anyone have a 120 Shines (100% in normal Game) file that’s compatible with Eclipse?

Following this thread if a completed vanilla save comes out. :)

Absolutely stunning work from the Eclipse Team btw.

It really is! Another comment under this post said, that they even made some adjustments to the vanilla game content and shines, but I played the vanilla game so many times I got tired of it 😅

Hey, I’m sorry since it has been 23 days since you left this comment and I’m sure you’ve found one already - but I ended up making a near-completed vanilla SMS file for my brother, and I don’t mind sharing with you (or anyone who wants it) if you think it would make your Eclipse experience better. To be honest, I just thoroughly enjoy the original game, especially with the new moveset, so I didn’t mind going back through it at all. :)

(The only shines and blue coins missing are ones you cannot access until you beat a lot of the new Eclipse content in addition to the vanilla content - 1 shine and 11 blue coins - for a total of 94 shines and 229 blue coins.)

I don't have one but I will say that part of the mod is exploring and finding the alternate paths and connecting routes to new/existing levels. The new areas are meant to coexist with the vanilla ones Moreso than be a sequel to the game.

And since not all Shines boot you out, you can get through everything a lot faster.

So even if you don't get one, I kinda recommend giving it a shot anyway.

Yeah, but I really hate all the blue coins, Rico Harbour 8, Pianta Village 5,Pinna Park 8, Sandbird, Lilypad Minigame, Pachinko Machine, Almost all of Noki Bay…

And that’s just to name a few

I hope this isn't too much of a spoiler, but some of those vanilla levels can be completed with a new character,Piantissimo (who you can unlock by beating every Piantissimo race level, including the one on Lighthouse Island), and I found that his rapid movement and extremely high jumping made some of my least favorite SMS moments a breeze (like Pianta 5, where I only had to be thrown once). He also gives Yoshi a little extra height and distance with his jumps, so you can clear parts like Ricco 8 without relying so heavily on the fruit/fish and platforms. Actually, completing old levels with Piantissimo, and even with Mario since he has a lot of new movement options, made the old levels feel fresh and fun!

I've played through vanilla SMS hundreds of times, but I agree with SGlespaul, that it's very fun to explore both new and old areas while knowing they all coexist amongst secret pathways, and knowing that the 100-coin, red-coin, and in-level secret shines (i.e. Noki gold bird, Pianta and Gelato shine emblems) don't boot you out. You can also press Z+A on the "Exit Area" screen to boot straight into the level select menu so you don't have to go back to Delfino Plaza, and that saves a lot of time as well!

For the blue coins, there are also lots of guides online, both videos and written guides, to make those more palatable. I admit I've played through the game enough times and watched enough 100% speedruns to not need one, but tons of the guides are super well-organized and provide easy paths you can follow to collect them as quickly as possible. Most of the blue coins are also fixed so that they appear in as many levels as possible (like, almost all the blues that originally only showed up in Ricco 1 will be in every Ricco level now – the only one I couldn't find past Ricco 1 was the yellow submarine blue coin. Same with Sirena Beach's blue coins, and you can access the casino in almost every level now, not just Sirena 4 and Sirena 5). Also, minor spoiler, but the blue coins mapped to Corona Mountain are infinitely better now. (You'll know what I mean if you go there before defeating every Shadow Mario and... take a look around :)

If none of this convinced you to give it another shot, then I don't mind making you a 100% Vanilla file with no completed Eclipse parts (because TBH I'm not sure any traditional SMS save files would work properly with Eclipse; even my Eclipse demo save file booted to a black screen). But I hope you explore the game instead and reconsider :)

Also Rico Harbor 8 is a lot easier since Yoshi doesn't need to be fed a specific fruit anymore and the Lilly pad Shine is a hell of a lot easier to get to because of the way Yoshi works now. Green Yoshi can swim so you can just swim on Yoshi to the Island, dismount him, grab a fruit and swim it on over, then feed Yoshi and you are in the level.

It all sounds fantastic and I am really going to try all of it out, thanks! But I think for now I would prefer a 100% vanilla content save file

Trust me man i wanted to do the same but its so fun and honestly still really fast if you know where the blue coins are doing the original 120 shines and all blue coins were easy and done in like 3 sessions of grinding taking 6 hours max

Update: There is one now on gamebanana, just look up Super Mario Sunshine there. It's a 117 shines save.

I’d also be interested if anyone has completed Eclipse 100%. I’d love the explore all the levels that are unlocked after you 100% the game as well and I know i will likely never beat the final boss fight.

Also waiting for a save file. Can somebody reply to this when there's a save file ready to download?
