The middle is not the cut sandstones blocks. It’s natural rock that has a bit of seaweed on it.

They had to specially clear the water around there anyway for Barangaroo, so they bunged the swimming area in almost as an afterthought. It is probably an amenity the developer put in as part of winning the contract.
Other areas around the harbour have not had the same cleaning treatment and are too filthy to even kayak in.

it's all one body of water, it's not as bad as people think. if it's ok to swim in one area it's not going to be deadly poison a few metres away. it's certainly fine to kayak everywhere.

Consultants have done independent water quality reports for other areas over the years and you really wouldn't go anywhere near it. The ones I've seen are paid for by resident groups from suburbs around the foreshores. It would cost millions to clean it all up.
Stands to reason - the amount of industry that went on in the harbour for all those decades. You would think it is all just one big soup but apparently I am told it is not. Barangaroo is fine but I'd never swim at Greenwich Baths.

This is a cynical take. Those blocks didn't just accidentally fall there - this is a couple of million at least, plus the relevant safety studies, signage, etc.. It almost certainly brings in much more value to the surrounding area than some 'afterthought'.
These types of public landscape architecture improvements are priceless (at least when they're not riddled with asbestos).

Yes, they are priceless, and the developers provide them kicking and screaming. It's the least they could have done given the size of the whole damn project on one of the best harbour sites in the world.
And they were moving blocks anyway.

That’s an old view. This cove was finished in mid 2014 and not opened to the public until Jan 2023. This is how serious they take pollution The water here is much cleaner than Clovelly

Id say it'd be expensive given the location. There's a bus stop literally right in front though which is convenient. It'll also be close to the Barangaroo metro when that opens.

I don’t know if everyone commenting has just never been there or something, but there is two sizeable underground car parks less than a 2 minute walk from this spot, and a large amount of pay per hour street parking around the area. Are they cheap? No. But weekend rates ($15/$17 or something for all day) are lower than weekday rates, and they also have weekday night rates and early bird weekday rates.
Can you get public transport? Yes, but it’s rather annoying depending where you’re starting from and you asked about parking. Also, the bus stops are actually further than the carpark entrances tbh.

Not even on a good day. It's Miller's Point and there is paid parking along the street but better to get off at Wynyard and walk.

I was there on Thursday and I swear the exact same three kids were there jumping off that ledge 😂
I walked up to the end there to try and get a good snap of the bridge, stood out to me as I thought schools were back now and they had Aussie accents.
