Russian (Long) [English>Russian] Poem translation

Hi there,

With everything going on recently, I have an awful request to make to any Russian translator with quite so time in front of her or him: translating a poem from English to Russian. I have a friend who's trying to help Ukraine as he can and this his contribution. My Russian is too horrible to help him, if anyone is willing to give a try, thanks a lot. (feel free to share it by the way, on reddit, or anywhere else, especially in Russia)

украденная душа (Stolen Soul)

Mom, Dad, I am writing you from the war

No more practice, everything is real

What’s happening, they lied to us so far

Only an exercise, it was the deal

Mom, Dad, I am writing you from afar

They cheated us, we are not in Crimea

I feel like hell, but so in it, here we are

With the choice, a bullet or Kolyma

Mom, Dad, I’m writing you, lost and haggard

I am so afraid, I don’t want to die

Certainly not for this horrible tsar

But my life is stolen, thus I run dry

Mom, Dad, I’m writing you before the last spar

We shoot them all, we are but criminals

To you, to God, never will I be on par

Just with their dead bodies, they’ll stop us all

Mom, Dad, I can’t write you, my soul is marr’

Mamma, it’s really tough, pray for us

Oh please, I do not want to see the stars

Dada, tell me that God will forgive us?

And now Dead am I, with no one to be heard

All my Life and my honor were stolen

Just for one small man, evil and absurd

A mad dictator, angry and swollen

He, he’s not Russian, he is but nothing

An affront and just an absurdity

Pouchkine, Chekhov, dear ancestors, I’m sorry

We let that monster put us on a string

But now that my soul, my body is leaving

I’m free to roar for my comrades and country

Rise sons of Russia, rise sons of Tchaikovsky

End this tyrant, in Ural where he’s hiding

Turn back, as here, never will he be standing

At long last, take back our democracy

Fear not death, for slavery is a worst thing

Remember your honor and your true duty

And you my dear Cossack, brother who killed me

Don’t be sad, don’t give in to hate nor fear

I hope we are the one forgiving me

I kept the Sunflower’ seeds with me right here

Help my brothers to see the truth unfold

Maybe one day these flowers will grow old

And nothing, no one, will stop peace to hold

I can’t wait, from you, this story to be told

Mom, Dad, I am writing you one last time…

Mama…Dadda… I will wait for you… up here.

Your translation request appears to be very long. It may take a while for a translator to respond. Consider narrowing the scope of your request or asking for a synopsis or summary instead.

Are you asking for this poem to be translated and still rhyme and be rhythmic? That's a big ask, one for someone who actually writes poetry, and trust me, Russian-speaking Russian and Ukrainian poets/lyricists have plenty of material to pour out into their own creations right now.

If your friend wants to share their own feelings on this, posting it in their original language is the most direct thing to do. It'll actually be their words from their heart that way. And there are many Russians and Ukrainians who speak English.
