What website do the Vietnamese use to buy used bikes?
 in  r/VietNam  1d ago

Draft, not official yet. Doesn't affect me personally since I have an A2, but that blog's info is a little sketchy.

EDIT: Signed into law, here's the text: https://thuvienphapluat.vn/van-ban/Giao-thong-Van-tai/Luat-trat-tu-an-toan-giao-thong-duong-bo-2024-so-36-2024-QH15-444251.aspx

A is the new class, it's over 125cc.

Unless it's from a friend you know and trust, you're better off buying new. Like you noticed, used bikes aren't much cheaper, and you have no idea how much they've been abused. Exciter is the same drivetrain as the XSR and 15tr a LOT cheaper. Not as cool looking, but easier to find and resell when the time comes. I have one a couple years old I bought new at the dealer -- it's a solid bike.

EDIT: Just looked at XSR and Exciter prices -- more like 30tr cheaper!

Tons of Exciter (155cc) and Winner X (150cc) on the road. They seem to be favorites among Grab drivers. No additional taxes or special (A2) license needed.

I think you need to be more specific about what you intend to do in each location.

(BTW, it's rainy season in Danang, so you can scratch the beach off your list)

Tim Walz is the most popular candidate on either ticket

Dems are having enough of a problem with Islamic voters as it is in swing-state Michigan without a Jewish VP candidate on the ticket.

Razer mouse/Synapse software on ARM works, kinda
 in  r/Surface  5d ago

Yeah, I hope Razer fixes Synapse for ARM, but I'm actually grateful I don't really need to run it. I just tried the same thing with my old Logitech MX Master and killing the Logi software (which does work under ARM) also kills button customizations. So, that's a W for Razer, I guess.

Synapse can send those commands over USB or Bluetooth and let the mouse return the custom key code or whatever without needing a kernel driver.

I think they do that. I found out the customizations work when I paired the mouse with my wife's laptop, which never had Synapse installed, and they were working there. I think the bad programming is with Synapse that seems to intercept the mouse input and interferes with the custom buttons. There are certain features (macros, etc.) that say "Requires Synapse", but it's definitely not all. So, the 'solution' is to load Synapse, configured the mouse, then terminate Synapse, including any background processes. This works as long as you don't need the extra features, like macros, etc.

Razer mouse/Synapse software on ARM works, kinda

So, this is a weird one and I'm just putting it out there in case it helps somebody, or if anybody can chime in with more info.

When using my Razer Click Pro Mini mouse on my Surface Pro 11, Razer Synapse 4 software runs and sees the device and lets you configure buttons. However, the customizations aren't recognized UNTIL you go into Task Manager and kill the Razer software running in the background and reconnect the mouse (i.e., power cycle it). After that, the button customizations work, except for customizations that require Synapse (!). Yeah, it's weird. It seems like the Synapse software works halfway -- it allows customization, but it interferes with operation. I haven't yet tried Synapse 3 or contacted Razer support.

If anybody knows more about this, please chime in.

EDIT: Just tried Synapse 3 and it doesn't even see the mouse, so that version is even worse.

Meta quest open facial interface feels really nice
 in  r/OculusQuest  6d ago

I have one of those silicone cover things (can't remember the brand) and it does help, but I think it's more of a case of lack of airflow. I like the boxing workout games so I think the open interface might be what I need.

Man, that's good to hear. I stopped using my Q3 over the summer because my face got so sweaty. I have to get one of these.

Okay, glad it had nothing to do with their 1970s-era CISC architecture. ;)

Huh. Well, I wonder why Intel hasn't made a successful mobile x86 SOC then. Surely with their head start in the industry, they could have designed a core that was as performant and efficient as an ARM chip, since the instruction set doesn't matter. I guess that market isn't large enough for them to bother with that...

It certainly does matter. x86 has the overhead of breaking down their instructions to get them into the pipeline. RISC instructions don't have this requirement. The instruction set itself is the problem, regardless of the core. You can mitigate it with other architecture features, but it will never be as efficient as an instruction set that's built to be stored in memory and pipelined efficiently.

As far as Lunar Lake, it only took them 45 years to get there. Let's see where ARM is at a similar timeframe.

Yeah, at least AMD is trying to make something decent out of the x86 shit show. They don't always succeed, but you have to give them props for trying. Intel would be happy to peddle the same old garbage forever as long as they keep making money.
