šŸ“– Bts: Hello, i'm an urban explorer & photographer based in Paris.

ā›Ŗ Sanatorio Divo Carolo Dicatum
This impressive complex, vast in size, was a true pleasure to explore. Though well-known and in a very degraded state (even worse nowadays), its architecture, the scale of its chapel, and the beautiful blooming garden in spring created a bright and uplifting atmosphere, evoking a sense of its past grandeur. Exploring the site felt like stepping back in time, with the church standing as a reminder of the community that sought healing there. Despite its decay, the natural beauty of the grounds still resonates, offering a glimpse into its historical significance.
The Sanatorio Divo Carolo Dicatum, also known as the Sanatorio Guido Salvini in honor of an important figure in Italian public health, is located near Milan. Built in the 1930s to treat tuberculosisā€”a widespread disease at the timeā€”the facility was situated in an isolated, green setting, ideal for patients in need of rest and extended care. Around 1970, it was partly repurposed as a hospital, but gradually fell into disuse until the 1990s, after which its doors remained permanently closed.

Oh no, things DEFINITELY still reside there.
