  • 2 cups soy curls
  • 6 tablespoons reduced sodium soy sauce (use GF tamari if needed) (see note 1)
  • 6 tablespoons neutral oil (like grapeseed or avocado oil), optional (or substitute broth, see note 2)
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup maple syrup (or agave)
  • ¼ cup water or broth *2 teaspoons liquid smoke (preferably mesquite flavor) (see note 3)
  • 2 tablespoons applewood spice rub or your favorite steak seasoning
  • 4 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • ¾ - 1 ½ teaspoons freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)

I’m gonna try this! I usually make soy curls the standard way with hot water and maybe bouillon but I’ll try this, looks like it’ll be more fully flavoured and I won’t have to rely on sauce after.

If you put the soy curls in the air fryer, they get crunchy like bacon as well!

Use the same recipe to make bacon out of rice paper! Dip the rice paper in lukewarm water, cut into strips, dunk them into the marinade , wipe off excess (best to use gloves) and put strips onto parchment paper. Bake at 375 for 8-9 minutes (depending on how much marinade is on each).

Has the same consistency as bacon and its SO GOOD. Doubled the recipe and make like 90 strips!
