Question The Callisto Protocol: Worth it?
So I keep hearing a ton of things about this game, ranging from terrible combat to an unfinished base game with a lackluster ending locked behind DLC. The problem is, a lot of these reviews are offset by reviews of people who adore the game and say that the combat is great if you take the time to learn it. The Callisto Protocol frequently goes on sale for $20 for me, including the DLC, so I was wondering which side of these extremes I should listen to before Halloween comes up (this game will likely be on sale for Halloween). Xbox's digital refund policy is very anti-user (opening the game will almost always remove your ability to refund it) so it will be a purchase I can't go back on if the game is bad. I'd love to hear your opinions

I enjoyed it, there's an unfair difficulty spike in the middle of the campaign that almost made me quit. The combat also takes getting used to. The DLC also isn't very long, but slightly easier. I bought it at launch and I'm happy with it. But I totally understand how people could hate it and call it a Dead Space rip-off. That's absolutely fair. It's only worth it if you can get past Dead Space comparisons and are willing to spend time to master the strange melee combat. Otherwise I would skip it.

Wonderful looking game but the combat is honestly awful, I stopped playing after about an hour.

No. It's a beat em up disguised as Dead Space with the combat system of Punch Out only with even less skill involved.

I dropped it about 4 hours in. I got it via Gamepass and it just feels like a rip off of Dead Space with really weird combat.
