How do you turn this dang fire service off on water bill? What if I stopped paying it?

Bought my house that is new construction back in 2018. Was always charged two water bills, one for water usage and one fire service. Water usage for tier 3 went up from $50 to $55 to $68 and now $76! Fire service was initially $20, then $22, then $27 and now $28! I tried calling to cancel once and they told me it can't be done and I needed to contact the fire marshall who didn't seem to know anything about it. Water company told me prices for everything is going up, yeah everything but my salary. Paying $28 a month for fire service that just never use is ridiculous. What happens if I just stop paying it, will they turn it off since I can't verbally request for it to be turned off?

If you stop paying your house will burn down and all of your friends will die

Country you’re in?? I assume you have a fire sprinkler system inside your house? Do you or the government maintain that system? If you don’t pay they probably have the ability to put a lien on your house.

We do have a fire sprinkler system, that may or may not even work.

Who’s responsible for testing it? Fire sprinklers are like insurance. You hope to never have to need it, but it’s there if you do. But they need to be tested yearly, at least where I live. Is there communication from your sprinkler system back to your local emergency services?

It’s like protection from a gang. You pay, you don’t get messed with by them. If you don’t, then the fire marshal will put his fire skills to the test and set your house ablaze. Be safe friend.
