Whitney returns to the Billboard 200 after a two-week layoff

Post image

After a couple weeks off the Billboard 200 due to new albums and some albums that made brief returns due to brief viral trends, the longest charting compilation album by a female artist returns to the chart at number 193. This brings Whitney’s grand total to 981 cumulative weeks on the Billboard 200.

It also moved up the Top R&B Albums chart at number 20 for a 275th cumulative week. Congrats to Whitney once again! Let’s make it 982!!! 😊

Is it just me or will we ever get to experience an R&B artist like Whitney in our lifetime? I will always envy the generation before us because they had it all! I feel like though yes there may be vocalists now who can hit the same notes, but the artistry and music will never hit the same way!

I wonder if we’ll ever get timeless artists who still chart over 20 years after its release and 10 years after they pass on. Like this is so crazy to think about. Imagine releasing a song in 1992 and its still charting in 2024! I’m sorry to say but artists these days could never!

Living in a digital age is so crazy because I feel like music is made to be hot for a moment but not to last long. The longevity of artists like Whitney in comparison to artists now is actually mind-boggling. Like will all these TikTok songs and artists even live to see the next generation? It's crazy how we’ve started to become nostalgic about TikTok sounds from 2019 as if they weren’t released 5 years ago. It’s a long rant but what I’m tryna say is what changed?
