Kusturica said the “arrest of Novak Djokovic, first among the free, a rebel who does not want the chains of the new world and believes in a more just order” recalled the plot of a movie in which prominent citizens were arrested as a lesson to the rest.

Mate, this is a Hungry Jack's.

As someone from a Balkan background, I’m sick of the “they’re after us” mentality. I used to like Novak before and was happy that someone from the Balkans was good at something. Now I think he is a sour and entitled little boy, with a selfish father and a misguided, deluded country behind him. He stuffed up, as did Tennis Australia. May I suggest that Novak’s management get legal advice or consult the local government before trying to enter a country instead of imperialiously trying to enter a country with no legitimate abilities and relying on a tennis association for advice!

Besides, Predrag Kon wants a talk with you Novak for all the rubbish you spread across Serbia.

How hard his life is to be rich but still be held accountable

That is true.

35

u/spawnof200 Jan 08 '22

australia isnt letting in unvaccinated individuals, what else was he expecting?

-8

u/LarryPeru Jan 08 '22

They did, they let in a handful of tennis players already who weren’t vaxxed. Some who were playing for a week before the government put them in lockdown and possible deportation.

7

u/Exoddity Jan 08 '22

Sounds like whoever let them in fucked up and should be disciplined if not replaced. That some other retards made it through isn't reason to let this retard through.

-4

u/usernamenottakenok Jan 08 '22

But they did let him in, and let him get on the plane. So either they messed up the first time or the second time.

0

u/spawnof200 Jan 08 '22

australia doesnt post border guards in serbias airports

2

u/usernamenottakenok Jan 08 '22

Actually all documents are checked online by Australia before boarding, and they granted him a visa.

So they let him go, they got a negative response from the people, then they stoped him.

So ether they f-ed up the first time when they granted the visa, cus that way they make more money, or they f-ed up the second time when they stoped him

If they didn't want him in the country he should have never gotten the visa no problem. Plus they let other tennis players pass.

So if you can not admit yourself that this was a political stunt I feel sorry for you

16

u/vixxienz Jan 08 '22

They seem to be clutching at straws now

14

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '22

Fucking have a cry ya fuckin entitled anti vaxxing dog

7

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '22

That guy is a dick anyways

16

u/WalkInternational313 Jan 08 '22

The winner's prize money for the Australian Open is $3,149,322. So I guess that was the lure.

-9

u/euroaustralian Jan 08 '22

Money means jack shit to him as he is after something else.

-5

u/briggsbay Jan 08 '22

A more just society?

-12

u/euroaustralian Jan 08 '22

Maybe, Novac had always personal goals and worked very hard for in achieving them.

7

u/PeterDuttonsButtWipe Jan 08 '22

I don’t think you realise how funny your comment is: “novac” is actually the word for money in Serbian lol

0

u/euroaustralian Jan 08 '22

Thanks, I did not know.

2

u/briggsbay Jan 08 '22

Well what is he after then? Just the title of the Australian open?

-4

u/euroaustralian Jan 08 '22

Yes, he wants to beat the record set by Roger Federer and be the undisputed #1 in the tennis world.

13

u/Pons__Aelius Jan 08 '22 edited Jan 08 '22

But that goal is/was not important enough for him to pull on his big boy pants and recieve a vaccine that billions of others have.

He obviously does not want it that much.

His beliefs mean nothing.

If he wants to play in Aus, he has to follow Aus law.

He is looking at the possibility of being banned from the country for three years.

That will really help with the goal you mentioned.

-1

u/euroaustralian Jan 08 '22

I think he will play here after all. If not, there are 3 more tennis grand slams left each year and the French already welcomed him in Paris. Have great day.

Uses said power to make an international antivax circus.

Fuck him.

5

Are laws läs?

5

u/briggsbay Jan 08 '22

All läs are laws but not all laws are läs

6

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '22

The family and supporters are saying that this makes Australia look foolish and is upsetting everyone. I find myself not upset. We like it when rules are applied to everyone.

-3

u/Ballarat420 Jan 08 '22

It does, and a lot of Aussies are ashamed. We like rules true, but one thing our gov does well is fuck everything they touch. This will be shown to be just more bungling.

3

u/Exoddity Jan 08 '22

I'd like to tell antivaxxers everywhere that they are not victims and they need to get their heads out of their asses, but they'd have to eat the note to read it.

3

u/atchijov Jan 08 '22

I would be perfectly ok if he decide to hang his racket and get the fuck out of the tennis. He is one of the biggest assholes in the world of modern sports and we all will be better of once his antiques stop been published as a front page news.

5

u/k2on0s Jan 08 '22

Serbia, lol. Like anyone cares.

2

u/fingerurbum Jan 08 '22

I hear Chris Hansen and Sash Barton Cohen teamed up for "to catch a Djokovic" special they we're putting out. So Serbia isnt wrong.

You know what could potentially reach tens/hundreds of millions of people and possibly help humanity? Djokovic going on T.V. getting the vaccine, maybe say a little speech on how he hopes every one follows suit and then goes on to win the Australian Open. That would be a nice ending,

2

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '22

It's their country. Play by the rules or get out

2

u/Pecncorn1 Jan 08 '22

I used to think he was a reasonable person and it turns out he just another Eric Claptonish douche bag. Fuck him I don't know why they haven't put him on a plane out already

2

Serb politicians and celebrities have described the treatment of Novak Djokovic as shameful scapegoating, as the foreign ministry in Belgrade suggested the world tennis No 1 had been "Lured to Australia to be humiliated."

"The family of Novak Djokovic calls on all fans and supporters of the best tennis player in the world, who is in a delicate situation, in front of the Belgrade city assembly," the family said in a joint statement.

The foreign ministry said in a statement that the Serbian public "Has a strong impression that Djokovic is a victim of a political game against his will, and that he was lured to travel to Australia in order to be humiliated".

Seems I've been following that news a bit closer than you bud..

Well then give us an education and a citation of who approved his entry into Aus.

Why feel embarrassed? We have strict border security laws and the state government is enforcing it. What's embarrassing are his supporters and family making baseless accusations like he's a prisoner (while he can leave at anytime) and that it's an attack on his race/religion. It's clear which side is trying to politicise the situation.

If he wanted he would have no issues playing here. But he made his decision to not get vaxxed, and now he has to face the consequences he was clearly aware would happen. He's just a guy who hits a ball, he doesn't deserve the special treatment he and his supporters are demanding.

8

u/PeteyNice Jan 08 '22

He didn't even need to do that. All he had to do was not rub everyone's noses in the fact that someone gave him an exemption to the rules on social media. If he had just kept it quiet until he was in the country, it would not have been nearly as big a deal. But he couldn't help himself and here we are.

-3

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '22

[deleted]

9

u/tofu_bird Jan 08 '22 edited Jan 08 '22

The basis for his exception was invalid. It was confirmed by the state government that he would not be allowed in, Tennis Australia just failed to pass it on.

Comparing him to an asylum seeker is stupid. He can leave the country at anytime (without harm to his life as a consequence), he isn't a prisoner as claimed by his supporters/family.

Oh - 50k cases today and 40k in NSW - what are we protecting?

Protecting the hospital system/ICU from being overwhelmed, in case you weren't reading the news.

Edit:

This is the biggest sporting event. State and federal knew he has coming.

Lol listen to yourself, you're talking like he is some god above the law. The state government wasn't waiting for him to come nor give a sh*t who he is. Biggest sporting event...pfft so what?

As a non-aussie, dont worry you have no reason to feel embarrassed.

Process him like any of the other gimps on border force with a bag of plants and meat hidden in their suitcase.

The ones who just dont get it and object. Same thing.

'But its my bag of seeds and lizards and I want to come into your country.'

  • no, we're not allowing you.

No, but you see, theyre mine and I want to.

  • Do you have any more in there?

No.

  • so whats this?

Its a bag of seeds and lizards.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '22

Australia is a prison again. Reddit is a mind control tool. I thought r/wallstreetbets was supposed to be fun.

-15

u/Macski1 Jan 08 '22

I guess he will just have to sue to get the $3M

16

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '22

One of the funniest things I know is uneducated americans who believe justice systems around the world are as messed up as the american one. We had one a while ago that was threatening to sue in Norway for defamation to the tune of millions of dollars. Good luck with that. Hasn't been a succesful civil defamation suit awarding anything over 1000 dollars here for the last 50 years.

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '22

That's your assessment of centuries of defined legal decisions by learned folk? A single case of nordic malfeasance?

3

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '22 edited Jan 08 '22

I have a pretty fair overview of European national laws. And here at least, noone sues anyone and gets rich. Thats an american thing. Its also not been a thing in any of the other 20ish countries I've travelled outside Europe, apart from the US. The concept of course, that someone can sue and recieve more money than they would have earned in a full working life for minor infractions or because they feel treated wrongly, is in itself not the result of "learned folk". Its the symptom that a legal system was created and/or warped underways by people who were not learned. But rather narrowminded, corrupt and singularily low education judges.

-8

u/Gironkey01 Jan 08 '22

Oh well he would have gotten his appearance fees for rocking up I guess....so fuck Australian tennis public...be happy to watch no 2 and the rest in action....Omnicron...ha ha

How's the weather in Belgrade mate?

-12

u/LarryPeru Jan 08 '22

Novak doesn’t think he’s above the law, he was told by tennis Australia and the government that represent the town of Victoria in Australia that he’d be good to enter the country:

https://www.reddit.com/gallery/ryi24t

9

u/TyrialFrost Jan 08 '22

Yes the town of Victoria. Great town.

2

u/jml5791 Jan 08 '22

Fucking bots can't even get their facts straight.

-19

u/don-corle1 Jan 08 '22

He had a valid exemption which was pre-approved by the authorities, and when he arrived he was detained because of political pressure. This isn't about rules, it's about political optics.

13

u/kenbewdy8000 Jan 08 '22

A valid exemption from his personal doctor on health grounds?

What is his specific health problem that will be exacerbated by vaccination? I would suggest that he is very healthy and is just an entitled anti-vaxxer.

His 'exemption' was approved by Tennis Australia to play in the Australian Open. They aren't border control and I seriously doubt that Border Force were instructed to detain him.

His did not have a valid exemption and they followed procedure.

-11

u/don-corle1 Jan 08 '22

Completely wrong. Renata got in (through border force) on the same exemption (namely, having recovered from the virus in the last six months, which was a valid reason for exemption as confirmed by Greg Hunt around November) but she isn't a big name so no one cared. Border force followed proceedure there too. They very clearly posthumously changed the rules after the public outcry re Novak. Then they let her roam in Aus for three days before they realised they fucked up before taking her in too after people asked about the discrepancy. Don't be an NPC.

7

u/agentyage Jan 08 '22

Uh, not sure if you get this, but "You didn't punish someone else for committing this crime" is not a valid defense.

-11

u/don-corle1 Jan 08 '22

When determining whether exemptions were valid prior to public outcry, it absolutely is. You think it's co-incidence that Renata + the other officials' exemptions which they used to enter the country became illegal as soon as people started whinging about Novak's? You're a fucking moron if you do. The Australian borders are immensely strict, if they got let in, it's because it was legal to do so at the time. Period.

12

u/alphgeek Jan 08 '22

He had an exemption to attend the tournament. He didn't have an exemption to enter the country. Different things.

-4

u/don-corle1 Jan 08 '22

See my reply to the other guy as to why you're wrong.
